I misplaced the adapter for my Sony HDR-HC3 camcorder and found this little gem here on Amazon. Inserted it in to a USB charging plug I had on-hand from another device and it powered up my camcorder just fine. A must if you want to replace the bulky "brick and cables" with a single USB cable. NOTE: USB plugs on laptops typically do not output that much current so DO make sure you use a USB charging plug (or power bank) that outputs at least 2.0A. Put it in your shopping cart now!

Love how small this, always have USB charger around and can power my Sony Camcorder all day with it. Perfect for traveling.

This provides enough output to power the device but it does not provide enough power to perform actions like finalizing a disc or actually charge the battery properly. I have it plugged into a power bank with a 2A and 4.8A output and neither was sufficient. I was really hoping to like this solution because it's so much more compact than a replacement power brick but it's just not quite a replacement.

it does what it was made for,really handy if you want to power a camcorder with external battery pack via usb

Handy little gadget. I have having to carry, and preggers forget to carry the bulky charger for my camcorder. But with this cable I can just throw it into the bag and dinner about it until I need it. Who doesn't always have a USB wall cube along? Well this turns it into a camcorder charger. Done deal. I can't believe how I obvious it is now that I have it. How did I ever do without it?
