Good boots
I have had my Lowa's for a week. It only took a couple of days to break them in. This is the first time of purchasing the Lowa brand, and even though I was not happy with the price, being I have an A width foot, it was really one of three boots I have found that was worth the try. My last pair was a Merrill boot, I had bought two pair and they lasted about ten years. I wear them during the fall and winter months daily for work and pleasure. Usually during the spring and summer I were Nike running/walking shoes. Unfortunately Merrill does not have a B width that I could find, so I had to move on.Any way most boot makers don't think about narrow footed customers and finding A or B widths are next to impossible. So far the Lowa's have been excellent. They fit well right out of the box. They cinch up fairly snug and are comfortable. They keep feet warm and dry. From what I can tell the construction is top notch. Being in Oklahoma, I don't have a lot of hiking trails to take off on, but I do walk a lot on gravel and uneven ground at work, and these fit the bill. The only reason I can't give the boots a 5 star rating at this time,is because of the price of the boot. I want to see for my self how long they last, and if I can get the same wear as I did with the Merrill's, then they will have earned a five star rating from me. Time will tell, so far, I am very happy with my purchase and the quality of the product. This is my second pair of Lowa's. I have been wanting a brown pair, but did not want to pay over 200 like I did the last pair. I waited a year before they went on sale, and then pulled the trigger. This pair fits just like the pair last year. Comfortable right out of the box. I can now give this boot a five star rating. No complaints what so ever. Highly recommend them.

Not an ordinary boot
These guys deliver good lateral and arch support at a low weight. If you have a weak ankle or need stiff midsoles, these may be be the perfect match for you.In my late teens I bought Lowa downhill ski boots. They were the best balance of affordability and function I could find at the time. About ten years ago I underwent cancer treatment on one of my legs; the net result on that leg is an ankle with low lateral strength and a weak arch. For walking and bicycling I need shoes with stiff soles for arch support. For backpacking and hiking on irregular terrain I also need the lateral ankle support and I want it at a low weight. After surgery I searched for months and found Lowa Biomex boots. They were hiking boots built with ski boot technology applied to the ankles. The result was a low weight boot with an articulating hinge line aligned with the ankle joint. They give me all of the support at a fraction of the weight of other hiking boots. They worked so well that I didn't need an ankle brace when I wore them. Alas, boots wear out over time and Lowa no longer makes the hinged design for hiking except for in a heavier mountaineering boot.I needed new boots this year for the Grand Canyon and began the boot search again. I wanted everything I had in the old boots plus a bit more width (my old boots and a first pass at replacement boots are a bit narrow, fatiguing my feet prematurely) and less weight if possible. These boots fit the bill. My boots are size 11.5 (US) and 2E width. They are comfortable, yet give me the stiffness that heavy, old fashioned, leather boots deliver. The pair of boots weigh a total of 3.0 pounds U.S., yet they are as stiff as boots that used to wear 6 pounds. They deliver the support I need.

Great company to work with
Lowa makes a great high quality boot. This one is no exception. I considered returning it because at the time it arrived I had very bad foot blisters and foot pain and so it didn't seem to fit right. The issue was mine, not the boot. But the company was really good in granting me enough time to return and given the extra time my foot healed and I found the boot to be comfortable and as a result I ultimately decided to keep the product. Theirgraciousness is another reason to buy this product from them.

Long search for mid-weight hikers/walkers finally over...
Really nice light/mid weight hikers. Fit is very comfortable right out of the box. Very much true to size - great for high-volume feet. I have wide (EE) feet and the 9.5W is a perfect fit. Also fits well over the arch which is one place I often find shoes to fit too tight on me.These are pretty light in weight, 25 oz (717 g) per shoe in my size, yet they have very solid footing. Excellent outer sole. Mild arch support (not enough for me) but in-sole is removable and shoe had enough room for SuperFeet heel-arch orthotics.I have been on the hunt for a good solid mid-weight hiker for a while now. These are a bit pricey and I hate to spend over $200 on a pair of shoes, but the cheapy Chinese stuff that dominates the market these days just doesn't cut it. In the end, money well spent in my book.
