Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy Blu-Ray
I bought the Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy blu-ray set during the Black Friday massive bargains. It was the blu-ray boxset I've always desired to collect because Jurassic Park represented the pioneer Hollywood breakthrough in visual CGI and DTS audio technologies. I loved all three films, although after watching them, I must say Lost World was probably my favourite. Lost World was a further evolution of animatonics-CGI hybrid collaboration, had 2 adult T-Rexes, a cute baby T-rex, introduced the popular Stegosarus, had a T-rex rampage through urban San Diego, and had the highest bodycount of all three films. I loved the first film as well, because dinosaurs were brought to life credibly despite the maiden experimental animatronics-CGI techniques. The technologies will go on to be refined and improved upon with each sequel. And of course, the third film was the most highly evolved. Smarter, new-look velociraptors with communicative vocals (compared to the simple hisses and screams of the first film); a prior unknown new monster Spinosauraus (although the way it managed to break a T-rex's neck after having had its neck chomped between the T-rex's jaws earlier, is just UN-believable); and pteranodons who finally make their full-feature debut. There're some film grain in the first film which becomes less noticeably in the sequels. But the visuals are crisp and highly-detailed for the most parts. DTS-HD surround sound is pure audio bliss. The tonnes of extra documentaries and behind the scenes features (about 2 hours worth for each film) add further value to the package. Of highlight are the two deleted scenes in Lost World which explain the change in InGen CEOship after the events of the first film and how Roland Teembo (my favourite character) got involved in the Isla Sorna expedition. Notwithstanding it being my favourite of the trilogy, I have to criticize the film adaptation of the Lost World compared to the first film. The first film, despite its changes from the novel, felt truer to the latter's essence. The Lost World was a cut-and-paste job from its novel, creating disjointed parts. A good example is the mystery of how the baby T-rex fratured its leg in the film when it was well and happily feeding in earlier scenes. You would have thought Roland and Ajay broke it to capture it to lure the adult T-rexes. But in the novel, it was another character (written out of the film) which accidentally stepped on the leg. So when that part was cut and changed in the film, the scenes became disjointed and created question marks. Overall, the boxset is definitely a worthwhile purchase and a collectible item for a long time.

When Dinosaurs Rule the Box Office
In the summer of 1993, director Stephen Spielberg once again made cinematic history with big screen release of Jurassic Park, a thrilling Sci-Fi adventure based on the best-selling novel by Michael Crichton. The film centers on an amusement park of cloned dinosaurs in a remote tropical island and stared by Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Richard Attenborough, Wayne Knight and Samuel L. Jackson. Upon its theatrical release, "Jurassic Park" was well received by critics and audiences whom praised the film's impressive special effects. It grossed over 900 million dollars worldwide and received three Academy Awards: Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing and Best Visual Effects. After such success, it was pretty obvious that Universal Pictures would want to continue the new Sci-Fi franchise and two sequels were released: The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) and Jurassic Park III (2001).The Lost World: Jurassic Park stared Jeff Goldblum, Julianne Moore, Pete Postlethwaite, Richard Schiff, Vince Vaughn and Richard Attenborough, and for the most part, it is a pretty solid sequel. Beside some mixed reviews, it earned over 618 million dollars worldwide. For Jurassic Park III, Joe Johnston stepped up to the director's chair while Spielberg took over the duties of executive producer. The third entry of the franchise was somewhat of a disappointment, compared to the first two films. Although "Jurassic Park III" grossed about half of the previous film, it was still considered a commercial hit.The new Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy Blu-Ray set certainly stands out as one of the must have Blu-Ray releases of 2011. All three films are presented in their original 1.85:1 widescreen format. As far as picture quality, the transfers look great, a considerable upgrade over the DVDs. The 7.1 DTS-HD MA soundtrack is outstanding. The 3 Blu-Ray set come very well equipped with an ample variety of extras: many behind-the-scenes and special effects documentaries, storyboards, deleted scenes, picture galleries, production archives, theatrical trailers and a feature commentary by special effects crew (Jurassic Park III). Overall, Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy scores an "A-".

People are nuts..
Okay for all those people out there that are bashing this set, you must be stupid or just dumb. Of course the first movie isn't going to look amazing because it was made in the early 90's! So converting that to blu-ray will make it a lot better, but it was still shot with an older camera, not an hd camera like we have no a days. After watching the first movie, all I can say is that it looks amazing. Yes there is some grainy parts in the beginning of the movie, but after that its beautiful. Vibrant colors, amazing shadows, great lighting brought out in this release. For the second movie, again it is grainy for the first minute, then again looks beautiful. People need to watch the whole movie before making a review.... In this movie, it was much more darker, that's what speilburg wanted, and you can instantly tell the difference between the blu-ray and the DVD version. Much more is brought out In this release that you couldn't see before. Now for the third movie, I had no issues with it being "grainy" what so ever. This of course is the best one of them all, quality wise because that it was made with better cameras and technology. Comparing the blu-ray and the DVD is no even possible because the blu-ray blows it away. Much more brighter and much more detail is available on the blu-ray. The dinosaurs look realistic and the environment looks gorgeous. So does the lightning and shadows as well. In the end, this is a great set to own if your a fan of the series! Much better then the DVDs and it is really worth it! Oh and just a tip, if you have a surround sound system..... Hook it up and watch these bad boys! It is ten times better!
