Diamond of California Pie Crust, Pecan, 6 oz (Pack of 12)

I was experimenting with making quiche as gifts for neighbors this holiday season and it made the preparation quite simple and easy...just pop them in the oven when you are pre-heating it, and then pour your quiche batter into the slightly toasted pecan crust. (But be super careful not to overfill!). Most of my neighbors loved the taste, but one neighbor agreed with me that, because the nutty flavor is a stronger than a flour based crust, they should probably not be used on quiche with a particularly subtle flavor such as a spinach quiche. But the nutty flavor does go well with bacon.

I love these pie crusts but they've been hard to get locally. Kroger no longer carries them. I make a cherry tomato tart that I put in this crust. I also make my sister's key lime pie in this and I get requests for that pie all the time, especially with the holidays coming up. They are rather small, so you might just have to make two! They were packed well and survived transit no problem.

I have used one to make a quiche recipe that was included on the label of the Pie Crust. The results were excellent; however, I detected a very slight sweetness. I don't think that it would be noticeable at all in other recipes with a less delicate flavor of an egg recipe.

The 12 pack came to about $3/pie crust. Much better quality than the junk you find in the supermarkets and they’re not much less in dollars & cents. Very tasty! The chocolate pie crust is also delicious but less versatile bc it’s strictly geared towards sweet. The walnut crust from this brand is also fabulous but I only found the pecan so I purchased a box of that. I’ll check back to see if they come out with the walnut. I’ve made delicious veggie pies as well as cheesecake with these pie crusts (I can be a bit of a health’n keto-junky so I’ll make a keto-cheesecake and sometimes use this as a pie crust for a treat.) They’re are not carb-free but much lower in overall sugars/carbs and much healthier components/less processed than standard commercial brands. Package arrived on time and all the items were in tact. Just wanna say this one more time—delicious!

I ordered 12 of the pecan whichhas a great taste. Upon opening the box, the pie shells were not wrapped individually/-just stuck together w crusts crumbling. I will not order from this seller again. I threw them away!
