Atora Shredded Vegetable Suet 200g

Q: Is this solid at room temperature or does it have a sort of mashed potato consistency?

I keep this in the fridge, once opened. It is never solid. It is quite finely shredded.

Q: Is this partially hydrogenated? (In other words, is it basically shortening and therefore a trans fat?)

According to the packet, the ingredients are: "Vegetable Oils (85%) (Palm, Sunflower), Wheat Flour (with added Calcium, Iron, Niacin, Thiamin)". The suet was produced in the UK so by EU law the ingredients must show whether partially hydrogenated oils, and therefore trans fats, are present.

Q: Does it easily melt in the summer heat?

I don't live in a hot summer area but I have not found that it melts in the warmer weather here in Calif. If you feel it gets too hot in your area you can wrap it and keep it in the refrigerator, make it come to room temp before use. Hope this helps
