Fresh
A very fresh product of a large bag hard-textured gums in a variety of sizes, large and small. Almost no smell or taste (definitely something you won't notice in a finished product). Great value. Will function nicely for baked goods and other projects.

Great product if you don't mind having to crush it yourself
I purchased this to use in homemade ice cream, in place of Xanthan gum in low carb recipes, and in......water color painting! This Gum Arabic is in the raw form and therefore large irregular nuggets. They have varied reddish to yellow color in the package but when dissolved and use this product does not effect the color of your product. It needs to be crushed with a mortar and pestle (Plastic Zip Lock bag and a meat hammer works as well) to break into smaller pieces that dissolve more readily. Gum Arabic is an emulsifier that provides more mild thickening and flow without the slimy gel like thickening of Xanthan gum. It is virtually tasteless. It dissolves in water. Start it in a small amount of warm liquid if you are impatient. The finer you crush it to the faster it will dissolve. Gum Arabic can be used to improves the mouth feel of food products, prevent separation and allow ingredients to blend more readily and evenly in food, cosmetic products , and yes...in paints such as water colors. When used in paints it does not interfere with the color tone or saturation but does allow better control and smoother flow and blending, especially when used with high quality water color paints. This product came in a sealed package and is fresh. I will be moving it into a sealed glass container as this amount should last a long time. This is a very good value at the current price of $14.95 with a discount.

Clean all natural gum Arabic
Nagaad Organic Acacia Senegal Gum Arabic comes in a plastic sealed wrapped box. It is wild crafted gum collected from Acacia tree in Eastern Africa. The manufactured date and the expiry date is printed on the back of the box. It says USDA Organic and free from any preservatives. The gum crystals are nice size and free of impurities or foreign particles. The gum crystals can be easily crushed into smaller pieces or powder with pestle and mortar. Gum Acacia has many uses including culinary and DIY beauty recipes. It is an excellent stabilizer, emulsifier, and thickener in various foods and beverages. It has neutral taste and smell so does not alter the flavor of the food. Since it is plant-based, so vegans can use without any issues. Also, it is gluten-free and non-GMO, which is great. However, it is a mere 4-oz of gum in the box which quite expensive for the price.

Great alternative to xanthan gum
I’ve been experimenting with a gluten-free diet to address some GI issues, and this gum Arabic has been a nice alternative to xanthan gum and other thickeners. Not all gum arabic is food-grade, but this one is. I use a mortar and pestle to crush a chunk into smaller pieces, and then I toss them in some water. It tastes a while to dissolve, so the finer you grind it, the faster it will dissolve. I use the solution to add to homemade low-fat low-cal “ice cream”, and it helps reduce iciness, thus improving the texzture. I used it instead of cornstarch in some turkey gravy I recently made (yes, I roasted a turkey in the month of May). The next time I make a cake, I’m looking forward to trying this product in sugar paste to help me make flowers for decoration.

Hard to break down
It didn't break down very easily. I'm not sure how to use it in smoothies or in cooking if it won't dissolve. The large pieces are too hard to use as is. There is a lot of product in the bag which is nice, and it has no smell. It's my first experience, so I'm not sure if it should smell. The little bit of dust had no flavor to it.

Nice results
I have been experimenting with different thickening agents in my cooking and have now tried this acacia gum. I used it in some wheat free bread and got a more consistent texture to my dough. Also put some in my smoothie and noticed a definite increase in the texture of the drink. The gum itself has a nice look and feel to it. It grinds down well by using my mini pill grinder. I get a nice fine powder that mixes in well. Definitely a lot here that should last me quite a while.
