Its genuinely waterproof, windproof and lightly insulated for comfort and warmth. Not too hot though to wear in milder temperatures. The ear flaps are great in cold windy weather but can be folded up easily, and they stay up onnce folded. Does the job and whether a priority or not, itb looks good as well.

The 'Lowe Alpine Classic Mountain Cap' has been around for decades, or at least the 'name' has. I have had several over the years and the combination of comfort, warmth and 'breathability' has been better than anything else on the market. I bought a new one to replace a cap which had lost some of it's warmth due to the inner fleece wearing thin. It was very disappointing to find that the inner fleece layer on the new cap was in fact thinner than my almost worn-out old one and that the cap was a much tighter and less comfortable fit. It seems a shame to spoil a classic by such penny-pinching alterations and I won't be buying another in future.
