Poor quality control on this Sharpie product?
Sharpie tends to make good items and I have used their permanent markers for years, no complaints. I've even used their fine tip paint marker and they worked great. However, this Sharpie Paint Marker Extra-fine was a disaster. After shaking and depressing the tip a few times to saturate the stylus, nothing, zippo. Kept shaking, then tried several more times, and the tip came loose. Stuck the tip back in (because I love a challenge). What a piece of cr*p, and I'm being objective in this review. Now, I read some positive comments that suggested they worked well, so there are a few good ones out there. Is it a QA thing? Does the tip dry up so it won't absorb paint? Maybe it's an expiration date problem? Whatever the issue, it was a few bucks down the drain and into the landfills.

Works well after pumping the tip
Really nice, but it’s one of those pens you have to pump to make work. I took off a star for that. Otherwise, once it gets working, it’s really good.

Did not work for fixing my keyboard
The letters had rubbed off of my keyboard, and I wanted a way to fix it. This pen worked great, and looked great. Let it dry overnight, but within and hour of using the keyboard the paint was already wearing off. By the end of the day, it was totally gone.I have not tried it for any other purpose, so maybe it is better for other things.

Great, durable, marker that's for dark surfaces
I used this marker for labeling small, black, plastic coated labels. The fine point and silver paint made for legible text. It's important to get it right the first time as the paint is very durable and not easy to correct. If you need something that can be handled or survive environmental hazards and spills, this is it. Very good contrast on dark surfaces and quite visible on lighter ones.
