Becoming Homeschoolers: Give Your Kids a Great Education, a Strong Family, and a Life They'll Thank You for Later Review: Amazing Resource for the curious and current homeschoolers - I have read 2 other homeschooled books so I almost thought that I might not need to read this one. So glad I did! I love Monica’s books! I’ve read “Boy mom”, “Raising Amazing”, and now this one. Every book has been so good, encouraging and helpful. I make a lot of highlights in her books! I currently homeschool my two 2nd graders and 1st grader. All boys. This book was so encouraging and helped me picture our future as homeschoolers a lot better. I always tell people I’m just taking it year by year with homeschooling but this was the first time I’ve thought, maybe I could make it all the way through high school with my kids. I typically try to avoid thinking about that far, unsure of what it would be like. She has so many great resources and tips. You can tell in all of Monicas’s books and listening to her podcast that she has a heart of gold. I’ve never met her, but you feel like her friend when you read her books. Review: A book to read if you’re planning to homeschool! - Wonderful read. The author gives so many references and ideas on where to begin and her philosophy of the power of homeschooling.

Love our Local Public School/ Non homeschool Parent Review
My husband is a full time teacher and coach at our local middle school. My son attends the elementary. We have had great experiences in the schools thus far- no complaints! I loved my school experience growing up in the public schools all the way through. I even LOVED school lunch. 🤪 but due to our busy lives and schedules I have desired to be with my kids more. My kids have also desired to be home a little more to just be young kids and play. I see their years flying by me!! Whatever your reason that led you to these reviews or this book, it is worth the read!! It has answered all my questions and resolved my fears. It has brought things to my attention I would not have thought of as well. From social media to school Shootings, socialization to college prep and success, and even break downs by grades taught. The curriculum insight was so helpful also. The Lord has used this book and Monica in addition to my personal Bible study to give me peace in the decision to give it a shot this upcoming school year. I’m EXCITED! I’ve always wanted to be in the circus. So the Toms circus training starts Aug 2024! 😂 👦🏻👧🏼👶🏿🦁🐒🤡🎪🤹📚✏️📓

Considering homeschool? Your questions answered here!
"I am a homeschool mom. It's a job that not everyone can do (or is willing to try). What I do impacts lives...families...generations!" (p. 194) I was so excited to hear that Monica Swanson was coming out with a book about homeschooling. Her previous books, Boy Mom and Raising Amazing, have been chock full of patient wisdom, dutiful research, and practical information. I knew there would be much to glean from a mom like Monica who has graduated three sons from high school and two from college, but this book exceeds expectations by far! Becoming Homeschoolers is now the ultimate resource to which I can point those who are curious about bringing their kids home for education. Monica's book has it all from how to get started, what to expect at each stage, what to do when there are challenges (homeschooling while working, etc.), different options for support, etc. This is a fantastic resource for ALL families, whether just starting out or if you've been homeschooling for years. With tons of bonus content (book lists, curriculum suggestions, requirements by state, etc.) this is your one stop for getting started to homeschool or being re-energized about the "why" of homeschooling! It's going to have a permanent place on my bookshelf!

Cheap paper though. Like a newspaper.

If you're curious about homeschooling
I've homeschooled on and off over the years (more off than on). The first time I homeschooled, I went to a homeschool convention because I was curious but didn't think I was actually capable of it even though I felt it was necessary at the time. This book is what I wish I had back then. It talks about many different ways to homeschool and what those options look like. It has resources so that you can research & see what is required by law in your state for every grade and graduation. Most of us, I would like to think, want our kids to at least have not only the option of going to college but one that they want. This book tells you not only how to find the prerequisites out, but ideas on how to get your kid's buy in, so that they have the drive to succeed and you have the tools and information to get them there. Even though I helped my oldest homeschool her last year of high school (thank you Covid) and was able to produce transcripts, I wasn't sure how well colleges would accept it. She did take some dual credit classes so already had some of her college knocked out but there was a resource mentioned in this book that I didn't know existed and would have made the transition so much easier! Now I have one about to start high school and he wants to homeschool through it. After reading this book, I have the confidence to put together a curriculum that works with his interests. I won't be teaching most of it myself but I know he'll be getting the education he needs to succeed and thrive in college. Not to mention getting him in AP courses and also dual enrollment with the community college for college credits. If possible for him, I hope to have his Associates Degree done along with graduation to save him a lot of money, should he choose that route. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is even curious about homeschooling.

I read this book and thanks to Monica’s advice and encouragement, I have now “become” a homeschool mum! Fantastic, easy read that helps lay out how to get started. Pair this with “The Well Trained Mind” and you’ll have a good understanding of what is needed to get going with homeschooling.
