Genuinely painfully funny
Having been a fan of Sarah Millican since the first series of her hilarious radio show 'Sarah Millican's Support Group', I was anticipating her first live DVD but fearful that it may not live up to expectations. Well as soon as I popped this DVD in the player, all that was forgotten. Millican is such an endearing character that her comedy is just like a friend gossiping with you, she's bright, warm and unashamedly rude - what more could you want? There's something for everyone here (just not the kids or any easily shocked/embarrassed family members!) as she lampoons subjects like living alone, divorce, cake and why you should never let your boyfriend near Claire's Accessories! Me and my partner were teary-eyed from laughing so much in the end, what a fantastic way to spend a spare hour and a half - infact every spare hour and a half should be spent watching this! The bonus features are pretty nice too, there's a twelve minute interview, a short featurette on her divorce tips, a rare radio short and her Royal Variety performance which is mostly the same as some of the gags in the main show, but is still lovely to have on disc. Here's hoping a DVD of her current tour 'Thoroughly Modern Millican' is on it's way!

BUY THIS DVD!!
I'm jumping the gun a bit on this review I know as the thing's not even out until NEXT December but be assured it wont matter. Sarah is one of the funniest and most down to earth comedians on any circuit anywhere. She has a real knack for balancing the ordinary with the extremely well observed humour hidden within the ordinary. And lads, please don't be put off because she's a girl. Buy this and you wont be dissapointed. There's something here for everyone. I've pre-ordered mine and will use the interim months before its release attempting to build a time machine in an effort to get hold of it earlier than the rest of you. So there!

What a giggle!
The key to her brand of funny is that she continually laughs at herself, frank, no modest little affectations, a belly laugh of a comedian . Sarah paints a picture with a few words, a confiding manner and a conspirational giggle that wins her an audience of intimates for the duration. I hope to see a whole lot more of Miss Millican. Often a comedy collection has some hilarious moments and is otherwise filled with tediious mediocrity, not so with this one.....it's worth every last cent!

Surprise surprise
Overall enjoyed the comedy. As Sarah herself points out early in the show her comedy is a tad more lewd on the DVD/show than you would have expected from her TV appearances. That said, comedy is all about stretching/exploring the moral envelope (cf. Frankie Boyle). Probably wouldn't lend the DVD to my Mum, M-I-L, more genteel lady friends, but it's all fairly harmless in the long line of British comedy that references Frankie Howerd and Kenneth Williams. I found the device Sarah used for observational humour to ask the audience members questions starting to irritate after a while, but that's a personal preference.Buying experience - very efficient close to Christmas.

Absolutely Brilliant!
Watched this last night with my hubby - thinking he'd probably not enjoy it as much as me. How wrong I was! We both thoroughly enjoyed the show and only wish we'd been lucky enough to obtain tickets when Sarah visited our local theatre in Southend last year. Alas, we were too late to get tickets, even though we tried the day they went on sale - a good indication of Sarah's much-deserved popularity! Yes, there are a lot more rude words and adult humour than we've seen of her on TV, but we're grown ups and let's face it, the DVD is given an adult rating (15), isn't it? We loved the interaction between Sarah and the audience and although some of the material is stuff we may have seen on TV, it was refreshed by a slightly different delivery. We will definitely be recommending this show to our friends and family (the more broadminded ones maybe!) and will look forward to seeing Sarah in person at one of her live shows soon, I hope! In the meantime, I know I have a pick-me-up DVD to watch whenever I need cheering up. Sarah Millican is one of a kind and a breath of fresh air. Well done - you are terrific and we can't rate your shows highly enough.

This was brilliant. Laughs from start to finish. I would recomend this to anybody who likes a good comedian. Sarah is a peoples person and includes the audience in her show. Not suitable for young viewers as lauguage and sex is mentioned a lot.Have tried to get tickets for her show but all sold out and now after seeing the dvd i would now really want tickets.
