Galco Dual Action Outdoorsman Holster for S&W L FR 686 4-Inch

Fits my 4" S&W 686+ perfectly without having to go through a procedure to stretch it to fit like I had to do with my other holster for this gun. It is also not wide like a pancake holster, so it doesn't take up so much space on my belt and is not so stiff on my side. I like the retention strap, especially with the plastic that stiffens the end making it easier to unsnap quickly. I also like that there are two cant slots. I usually wear it crossdraw on the left with a right hand holster with the angled cant. It is comfortable and easy to reach and draw. It is also well finished leather, and looks good.

Based on first impressions I am very happy with this holster. I will be curious how it holds up to extended use, but off the bat the construction is solid and it is made with firm, real leather with a decent thickness. I am using it with a S&W model 69 revolver with a 2.75 inch barrel (S&W L-Frame) and it fits like a glove. Trigger guard is fully covered, the clasp works smoothly and covers the hammer completely. Draw is smooth and it stays put pretty well as long as it is on a firm belt. A tad bit on the pricey side in my opinion, but I could not find any better alternatives. I have not found any issues with it so far and would defiantly recommend it.

Anyone who has had to carry a sidearm for any length of time knows what a pain in the ass it is to find a holster that works well for you. I carry in a crossdraw and have to say that this holster is perfect! The angle it sits at is exactly right, everything about it is perfect and works as it should. Don't waste your time and money messing with the fabric ones, if a shoulder holster isn't an option you can't do better than this one, it's perfect fit for my SW 586 4" very pleased with it. About the only nit is the holster being open at the end, but as I don't expect to be crawling through mud again filling up the barrel with mud taking cover isn't a concern.

First- I paid full price and am not affiliated. If you are looking for a light, unobtrusive holster that will carry your SW686 or Taurus Tracker safely and handily, your search is over. This is an attractive, solid, and comfortable OWB holster that works for cross-draw folks as well as a more traditional carry. The glove-friendly tab is a simple, but genius feature. Since I hike extensively in the winter, being able to draw my firearm with light gloves on is a plus. Galco is generally good, but they got this one 100% right.

At least one other reviewer mentioned the great fit for the S&W 69, and I agree: Snug with some adjustability left for preference. Materials all appear robust, and craftsmanship is good. All considered, a good price point too! I especially like the cross draw cant position. It couldn’t be much better in my opinion. I prefer cross draw position for sitting or when carrying a rifle by sling on the right. It is so good, I am considering a second one for a different firearm.

It’s a little stiff at first. Count on using some good saddle softener. Great quality!

So I'm left handed and bought this holster for my S&W 586 4inch. The price was an absolute steal!! The holster sold from Galco's own website was over $100 with a two week wait! The quality is top tier well made leather. Fits the revolver snugly.

This holster fits my Smith and Wesson revolvers like a glove. The fit was incredibly tight at first, but this is a holster that needs to break in with a firearm. I left the revolver in the holster for about a week and a half, and the more I removed and replaced the revolver, the smoother it became. Even the retaining strap, which was also very tight at first, has broken in and feels like it was custom made for the gun. Overall, a near perfect holster with great construction and quality. Highly recommend

Beautifully designed, engineered and finished. You wouldn't think that there is much to innovate after centuries of making holsters for revolvers. Yet they have. It's a brilliant piece of equipment.
