Hello - on the top right side of the desk, there is a lever you need to hold to the side as you lift up. It can be locked in to different heights. You’ll love it. Hope this helps.

Set levels from top of desk to adjustable desk top, in inches: 3/4, 7 3/4, 10, 11 3/4, 13, 14, 15, 16. So far we've been happy with it.
