Antonio Carluccio's Southern Italian Feast [DVD]

A fascinating insight to Italian food. I shall be trying to cook as many of these dishes as I can - they certainly beat boiled beef and carrots!

Carluccio's enthusiasm for the produce of his own country is infectious and the dishes he creates are interesting - I believe that you could follow them if you wanted to. However, there's not enough of the country itself.Antonio's wheezing also gets a bit off-putting at times. There's something missing besides and I believe that it's humour - perhaps he's a little too full of himself. What is amazing is that Gennaro Contaldo is on the support staff, but never makes an appearance - I'd happily watch him instead!

Well if this DVD doesn't get you wanting to head into the kitchen and cook up something quick and delicious then I despair. It may also have you heading to the travel agents (real or online) to book a ticket to Italy to sample the real thing.Engaging and approachable Antonio expresses a real, simple love of food set of-course in the most evocative settings that always make me green with envy. It has changed my whole approach to cooking italian - light sauces, a bit of chilli and few ingredients. The pot roast chicken with potatoes (though not an Antonio recipe) is now a family favourite - good food doesn't get much better.Settle down in front of the telly with a cold glass of white and enjoy.

As always Antonio is brilliant, amazing food from an amazing country.

those two dvds are really good but i would have appreciate to see more "mamma" cooking, each recipe is too quickly made so i didn't feel the joy of an italian trip. Antonio Carluccio is good but too talkative.

Absolutely delightful; evocative of all that is Italy, with charm and humour.Plus the added disc of "The Leopard" - both are beautifully scripted, filmed and produced. Carluccio "playing his part" perfectly, one learns and is entertained throughout. Look out for Gennaro in the background!We hope that other Carluccio series will be (?re-) available soon.

We lived in Rome for twenty years. Our children grew up there and are lingual Italian/English. Rome is our home town. This DVD captures the feeling of Italy and the casual nature of the food based on fresh ingredients and last minute preparation. A great DVD.
