It’s a Hard Drive. It’s Big. That’s Pretty Much It.
So, here it is: the Western Digital 18TB WD Red Pro NAS Internal Hard Drive — aka the “Big Boy” of data storage. What can I say? It’s a hard drive. It’s quite big. Like, “I could bench press this if I really wanted to” big. But please don’t — it’s expensive. 18 terabytes of space means I could theoretically store every embarrassing photo, weird Spotify playlist, and downloaded PDF I’ve ever made. The digital equivalent of a hoarder’s dream garage. Installation was straightforward: slot it in, screw it down, pray to the tech gods it spins up on the first try. Spoiler alert: it did. No strange noises, no smoke, just pure, reliable mechanical magic. Pros: So much space, I could hoard cat videos for decades. Designed for NAS, which means it’s the responsible adult of hard drives — steady, dependable, and ready to work overtime. Quiet enough that I almost forget it’s humming away, plotting how to store my entire digital life. Cons: It’s heavy. Not “drop on your foot” heavy, but “maybe I should use two hands” heavy. No flashy lights or cool holograms, just good old-fashioned spinning platters. Does not come with a personal assistant to organize your files or delete your bad decisions. Final Verdict: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – 5 stars. It stores data. It’s big. It doesn’t complain. Honestly, what more do you want from a hard drive?

Rock-Solid 26TB WD Red Pro NAS Drive
I ordered the 26TB Western Digital Red Pro NAS internal hard drive, and it exceeded expectations right from the start. It arrived fast, was packaged securely, and installed without any issues. Once up and running, the drive performed exactly as expected—quiet, cool, and incredibly reliable. Transfer speeds are smooth, and it integrated seamlessly into my NAS setup. For large storage needs, backups, or expanding a home server, this drive is a powerhouse. If you’re looking for top-tier performance, huge capacity, and dependable WD Red Pro quality, this 26TB model is a fantastic choice. Would absolutely purchase again.

Serial numbers are OEM drives according to WD
My 1 star does not reflect the drive as the drive worked perfect, Here is the problem that resulted in a 1 star rating, The drive was received in a new sealed WD Red Pro box with the 5 yr warranty sticker on the bottom but when I registered this drive in my WD account, WD flagged it as an OEM drive with NO WARRANTY. I talked to WD and they stated that the serial number on the drive which matched the serial on the box was an OEM drive , after sending pics of things they wanted to see they opened a case which is still open after 3 business days, Now, here is the real scary thing, this happened several days after I had bought same drive from Amazon and found out the serial number was also an OEM drive yet packaged in retail box. 2 20tb red pro drives bought within a week came up as OEM drives with no warranty, If you have bought this drive from Amazon, you better register it to check serial number is a retail drive or you got a $400 drive with no warranty. I have bought similar WD drives from Amazon and they were all fine so I have to assume WD screwed up things in their computer when they sent these retail drives to Amazon.

Highly recommended.
A nice addition to my NAS. Have a set that has been running continuously for over a year and a second set for several months now. If I had to complain about something, it would be that they seem a little on the loud side. The NAS is in the back room, so it is no bother. These WD Red drives are good for the price. The speed is good, storage capacity is ample. I expect many years of performance out of these drives.

Great quality
I get these for my husband's NAS since they're the most reliable brand. We've been using Western Digital for decades now, and this product is no different in terms of quality and durability. It fit right into the NAS and was easy to format. It looks great, doesn't stick out or anything, and was a great price. Definitely will be buying these again.

Good, but noisey.
Works well, just very noisey on boot, coming out of sleep and when reading. Didn't notice my 8TB, but this one I definitely notice every time it's in use.

As advertised. Deployed into Synology DS920+ with minor (artificial) kink
These took under a minute each to install into my Synology DS920+ NAS. Since it was all new gear, I let it do a through drive check as part of initializing which took a long time. I think it may ave been about two days. In theory, I could have used it during this time, but I just started it and ignored it. During installation, the 920 whines about any accessories (memory, drives) that aren't Synology's own and that included these. On the 922, they change from whining to much more obnoxious contrived incompatibilities, but this combination was chosen because exactly once, during insteallation, it warns you that its not a supported combination and that's that. Probably if there were a support issue involving data loss, they'd remind you of that oath you took to not complain, but in reality this is a very common combination that works quite well. Fan and normal noise is quite minimal. There was a noticeable clunk during a head seek. I reduced this by offlining the unit so I could remove power then applying the fuzzy half of a hook-and-loop fastener to the bottom of the bottom rail. That gave it support and a little bit of padding so the metal cage didn't serve as a drum skin for the oh-so-tiny motion that got amplified when transferred to the sheet metal. I'm looking forward to getting many, many years from these drives, like I did from the 4TB WD these are replacing. Those drives have no reading errors. Size grows and no drives are infallible, so I opted to replace them on my schedule (OK, and on Amazon Day special. :-) ) instead of letting the drive pick its own replacement day, taking my data with it.

purchase limits on this thing are quite annoying, 3 X 26TB shipped to Australia from USA. Amazon price is literally 1/2 of what they are charging locally in Australia. All drives arrived in good condition. Amazon driver thinks its ok to leave $2500 of drives outside a house without even knocking/ringing bell. 5/5 Product. 5/5 Price. 0/5 Delivery.
