This silly thing works great!
It’s also slightly terrifying. Definitely should be kept away from children! This is a power tool and should be treated as such. It has the ability to very easily and very quickly remove fingers from your hand. Great for pruning smaller branches. It’ll cut well over 1/2” but you can hear it straining a little with the big stuff. I guess the species of whatever you’re cutting would make a difference too. If you’re out pruning all day this will definitely save your hand from getting sore. The little display has a counter that tells you how many times you’ve pulled the trigger (resets after every power cycle).. I didn’t read the instructions. Thought the unit was DOA because once you power it on the trigger does nothing until you rapidly pull it twice to enable the machine. I guess it’s a safety feature. Long press of trigger will cycle between two different opening sizes of the blade. A longer press will close the blade back to the “locked” position that you’ll again need to double-press to unlock. Cool little tool at a very fair price.

My FAVORITE Garden Tool !!
As summer comes so does our fast growing bushes and trees. It has always been a pain to use our pruning clippers on them, and I always fell behind. The plants grew faster than I was willing to sit in the sun to trim them. These battery powered clippers however make it a breeze to keep everything trimmed. These clippers are easy to use and fully compatible with my existing Makita batteries. With the smallest 1.5AH Makita battery, it trims for a very long time and is relatively lightweight. After several bins full of trimmings, I barely moved the battery below 100%. There's an LCD indicator on the trimmer to show the battery level and number of trimmings, but I found the display to be unnecessary. The power on/off button is near the battery with a beep to confirm it's on. The cutter is so powerful and sharp, I was worried about getting in the way of it from a safety perspective. Once you press the trigger, it does its job with efficiency. There's no going back. The cutter, gears and motor sounds a little like the word "guillotine" every time cuts! It usually cuts thick branches in one pass, unless you have a very dry, dense and thick branches where you may need to trigger it multiple times. Even then, it was still impressive and much better than if I had struggled to do it by hand. It comes with a nice case to hold the cutter and a few accessories to swap out the blade, although I won't be putting it away until the end of summer! Bottom line, this is my new handy tool that I can't live without! Edit: After months of heavy use, this thing my favorite outdoor tool! It's reliable & powerful. I no longer hesitate when I see an intimidating bush in my way... And it's fun to use!

Works like a Champ!
One of my favorite tools in the garage - easy to use, lightweight when you use 2AH deWalt battery. Great for arthritic hands. Cuts clean even on fresh branches. Nice carry case w/ sharpening stone, extra blade, tools and oil container (no oil). Definitely worth the $50 for "tool only".

You'll never want to use a manual pruner again
I bought this about the same time as a battery-powered mini chain saw, thinking it might only be a novelty. WRONG. After a few minutes of use -- and hours since then -- this device has proven invaluable. I have used a premium Bahco manual pruner for years, and while that is a quality tool, these electric shears instantly won the competition. They are light and powerful, easily cutting branches an inch or so thick -- much larger than the Bahco can accommodate. They are effortless in use, cut as fast as you pull the trigger, and thus far have proven durable and sharp. A 5AH battery will make hundreds of cuts; switching to something like a 1.5AH battery will make the tool even lighter in use at the expense, of course, of fewer cuts before recharging or switching to a charged battery. The price is low, but you have to add your own Makita battery and charger. Sorry, Bahco; since buying this tool I have yet to once look for my trusty old manual pruner.

Great cutter. Only prob is the 2 minute shut off.
Works well and cuts clean. Powerful and can even cut thicker branches with multiple cuts. Only 4 stars because not crazy about it turning off after a couple minutes. Doubt it's draining the battery when not cutting. A minor irritation if you sit it down and it shuts off. Gotta hold the little power button and double trigger to cut again. Wish it would stay on for maybe 15 minutes and then shut down.

Best tool I’ve ever purchased. A workhorse!
These things are the bees knees! Well worth the $40-$60 I paid for them. I’ve cleared so much growth that has overtaken acres of land that I have, along with regular pruning for my trees and bushes. Absolutely fantastic. Cuts small trees and limbs up to about an inch in diameter, except for hickory- it takes a few tries with hickory. I’ve gotten more use out of this tool than any other tool aside from my drill. It does have an extra blade, along with a cut counter and remaining battery percentage display. Not really sure what the count would be good for, but it’s cool I suppose. Seriously- well worth every dime I spent on this. It’s a game changer. I use Dewalt batteries with this and they last for hours of continuous use. Can’t ask for better than this.

So far, so good. No reliability issues, lots of power, long battery life, light weight.
There were several negative reviews here saying it quit soon, so I put it to heavy use right away for springtime pruning. It has not failed. Its operation takes a little getting used to, and it's hard to hear its little beep, which might explain users thinking it was dead. Its display counts how many cuts you do per session. Not sure who needs that ... The blades aren't top quality, but for the price that can't be expected. They are decent quality. There is a spare blade included in the box. The blades have stayed in alignment so far after 2 weeks of heavy use. The box is a nice touch. The half-open jaw setting was a mystery to me at first. Then I was trimming branches that had grown thru a chain link fence, and suddenly I saw a good use for half-open. It's a nice option when you need it. It easily cut the fence too once. Oops, but the blade damage was slight and does not affect operation. Power is impressive. It will cut most anything that fits in its jaws. Occasionally, a tough branch will need several retries, or repositioning the jaws deeper for more leverage. M18 system compatible batteries are easy to find at fair prices. It's a good choice. The overall weight is good. It's light enough to trim fruit tree branches overhead while on a ladder. Despite heavy use, the battery has never gone below 3 out of 4 LEDS on the battery. The battery level on the pruners little screen seems not very reliable btw. Overall, a good buy. Should it fail, I'll edit this review to reduce the stars.

Good design, good quality, good tool!
This pair of brushless pruning shears that use a Dewalt 20v battery is simply Awesome! I bought this one because I wanted to save money and not buy the Dewalt brand name pruner. This one was less than $40 and the brand name was about $110, both without a battery. I thought that I would buy 3 of these (if needed) to last as long as the Dewalt. I’ve had this about a week. I’ve cut for days and I am amazed at how well these things cut! Even the bigger branches that won’t cut in a single stroke can be cut by repositioning the pruner on the opposite side of the branch from the first cut, then it will cut through! These pruners are addictively fun to use! After two days of cutting, I’ll tell you that they are powerful and well made! Just don’t abuse them or lose them! I no longer think that I’ll need any additional ones unless my wife sees how much fun they are! In December 2025, times are tough for many but I am telling you that these pruners are a good item to purchase.
