The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

I’d been wanting to play the game since it came out but waited until I got a Switch 2 and it got a free upgrade so I could enjoy it at its best. 100% completed it over the course of a week or so (main story, side quests, collectibles, everything) and what a ride it was! The game looks absolutely stunning, storyline is cohesive and intriguing, gameplay is the perfect middle between linear and creative, and the final showdown was an amazing close on a fantastic story. 10/10 fully recommend.

I enjoyed the game very well. I didn't realise it was so easy compared to the other Zelda games I've played. It follows the same Zelda game patterns. It just felt much shorter than expected so I'm trying a harder mode.

The first big Zelda game where you actually play as Zelda; Link is not the main character as usually. Heavy focus on puzzle solving. This game requires problem solving and mental brawn to play. The new feature in this game is echoes: your spirit companion lets you use magical echoes to create physical objects and create friendly monsters/creatures. You can let the summoned creatures fight for you but you can also use Link's mysterious sword to temporarily turn into a swordswoman. The goal of the game is to close the large rift in Hyrule that is sucking up people and places. Hours of fun and delightful adventure awaits.

I bought this as I was looking for a boredom cure. It's a brilliant game full of puzzles and adventure. Love the game mechanic, although at times it's a bit of a faff to find the echo you want to use. The majority of the puzzles can be solved in multiple ways which is definitely interesting but there are 1 or 2 puzzles that are so unintuitive that I had to look up how to solve them. Overall it was thoroughly enjoyable but I'd say it's only about 30 hours of game play and most of it is fairly easy. That being said I've now handed it over to my 10 year old and it is the perfect introduction to Legend of Zelda for her.

This has been a fun game to play with my niece. I'm usually the one that controls Zelda and walks around but I get my niece to suggest how to overcome the puzzles and hurdles. She's been loving it and looks forward to playing Echoes of Wisdom every time she comes over. I hope there are more games in the future with Zelda as the protagonist, especially a 3D one as good as BotW.

The Legend of Zelda series is one of the most prolific franchises in gaming history, renowned for flawlessly integrating multiple genres into one beautiful experience. This lives up to the monolithic franchise by creating a world that can be traversed through puzzles and combat whilst embarking on a classic mission to save Hyrule. Many classic Zelda fans can rejoice at Nintendo creating another top-down Zelda game with puzzles and exploration at the heart of the experience. There are no unharmonious 'shrines' or segmentation of game mechanics unlike Breath of the Wild. This is faithful to the classic experience with a Nintendo styled twist; traversing the world as Zelda. The new open-world Zelda games are fantastic but who said you couldn't have your cake and eat it too! Three all-new mainline games on one console is a Zelda fan's dream, although this experience will be new to those who have only played BOTW or TOTK. Sadly, the combat in this game is sub-par as the 'cloning' mechanic does leave much to be desired. This is partly fixed by allowing Zelda to use the classic sword and bow that Link uses (for a limited time), but can lead to tedious combat in some areas. That said, most combat areas are avoidable or can be extremely well matched to this new game mechanic. The menu systems can also be cumbersome and should have allowed for better management of these 'echoes'. The performance does hitch frequently, this can be seen in Digital Foundry's technical review. This largely did not affect my enjoyment of this game, and should not deter you. Overall, this is a brilliant game that brings innovation to a classic formula. The Link's Awakening remake was burdened by being faithful to the original, whereas this game inherits some of the modern DNA of the newer games in the franchise.

Endlich darf auch Zelda mal zeigen was sie kann. Schöne Grafik und auch nicht zu leicht. Ein paar schöne und knifflige rätzel sind dabei. Macht richtig Spaß.
