The bottom was nice and golden brown and after another 5 minutes they ...
These were recently purchased for our pantry and come in a box of eight individual cartons that are supposed to contain 7 servings each. We found that the servings were closer to 5. When we prepared the product we added (according to the instructions) water up to the 'fill line' and used water that was near to boiling. After allowing the carton to sit, closed, for the requisite 12 minutes I placed the contents in a hot cast iron skillet with about 1/4 cup of vegetable oil in it. The potatoes were divided into 4 portions to make handling them easier and then cooked for about 7 minutes before turning. The bottom was nice and golden brown and after another 5 minutes they were golden brown on both sides. The last time I tried reconstituted hash brown potatoes was about twenty years ago and I found them to be nasty. They tasted like chemicals to me which was probably the fault of the preservatives. These tasted great. They were almost like real has brown potatoes made from scratch but without all the trouble. I am ordering another package of 8 cartons next time we order from Amazon because these are definitely worth the storage space they take up. People say that as much as you can, to stock up on what you like to eat. So this is going on my list. I suggest you try them, the price is right and I am confident that you will find them palatable if not very tasty.

these are very good
We like these a lot and use them in many ways. They are good with eggs and bacon, or in a Barreto, and even with all kinds of dinners. They are easy to prepare and taste great. We have ordered this product a number of times and will continue to in the future.

Good Hashbrowns
These dehydrated hashbrowns are very good. They are simple to prepare and are very tasty. Just FYI - because they are a dehydrated potato and contain salt, I never add salt when cooking them. I will add pepper and maybe some diced onion or dried chives but they are usually salty enough as is. We will add in crumbled cooked sausage or bacon and put a fried egg on top for a scrumptious breakfast bowl. Store them in the pantry and you’re good to go. Overnight guests couldn’t believe these weren’t the fresh or frozen hashbrowns you buy at the grocery store.

The potatoes are amazingly good but cost prohibitive
We used to buy these at another place and they are outstanding. These are very good but the cost is just too much here so we won’t be buying them here again.

Tasty, easy to prepare, the "best of breed" for dehydrated potato shreds ...
What a treat! I love having the smaller containers of dehydrated shredded potatoes so I can cook up a smaller batch without opening a larger carton. These are VERY good, indeed! I just use my countertop electric kettle to heat some water, then add it to the carton, seal it up, and go on to gather whatever else I need for dinner. By the time I have everything else assembled, the potato shreds are ready to crisp up in the skillet. One thing, though -- the directions say to cook "3-4 minutes" over medium-high heat" to get them crispy. That has not been my experience. That might heat them through, but crisp? no. I've prepared 4 of the cartons so far and EVERY time it takes 10 minutes on the first side to get crispy/medium brown, and another 5-7 minutes on the other side. I usually add another 1 tsp of oil when I flip them (I like mine extra crispy, though, so your mileage might vary). They also say each carton provides 7 servings. Not really, unless you are one of 7 children You'll get maybe 1 3/4 Cups of finished cripsy shredded potatoes, which will provide 4-5 servings at most, 3 if folks are really hungry. I can usually get 3 servings from each carton as a single -- I make these for breadfast and serve with 2 scrambled eggs, 2 sausage links, and some fresh fruit. That holds me until lunchtime.Flavor is excellent, the best of any of the dehydrated potato shreds I've tried (and I've tried most of them). I'll continue to purchase these as long as I can get a good deal on them on Amazon. I really like them that much!
