Northern Light Technologies Nlt-SRC Sunrise Clock, Black

I purchased this lamp over five years ago. I decided to look it up again on Amazon today because I wondered if this company produces any other products because this one has been so useful and lasted so long.I read some of the other reviews and I just have not had any of the issues mentioned.I use this lamp every day, so well over 1,000 mornings this lamp has gently woken me up with a gradual sunrise. I have had no problems setting the time or alarm. I think the clock portion, which dims a few seconds after the alarm is set, is not bright enough to disturb me while sleeping. I love the "sunset" option too - I let the light dim down at night which means I can turn off all the room lights and then get ready for bed and the light on the clock fades down over fifteen minutes and I don't have to get up to turn off the lights or walk across the room in the dark. I use the "snooze" occasionally, to dim the light back down and it fades back up over the nine minutes. This is a great feature.I have never had any random alarms, the alarm beeping is soft - not shrill - and I have not needed a new bulb thus far.Best of all, it's done what I hoped - not a single morning of being startled awake. I bought this lamp because I was tired of being jolted awake with a shock from sound asleep to wide awake with my heart racing. I used to use two alarm clocks, one by the bedside and one across the room to force myself to get out of bed. I have literally not set the alarm across the room in years. I just don't need two alarm clocks anymore since I have this one.It is rather large. I have an iHome in another room and this is about the same footprint but since this one is more oval and oddly shaped it *feels* bigger and more unwieldy. I am used to it now, but I remember it was a surprise when I took it out of the box and required some reorganization of my night stand.All in all I am very happy with this purchase. Expensive but has lasted so long I feel good about the money spent.

This item was easy to set up and get working, but failed to continue to turn on and light up after two weeks. The bulb is still good and the unit works when I turn on the light, but it will not start up in the morning as It was programmed to do. For the money, I would have expected it to work longer than two weeks. Very dissatisfied!

I absolutely love this alarm clock. It really makes it so much easier to wake up in the morning. However, after only a few months the display broke. It shows no read at all so I can't tell what time it is or set the alarm. For something so expensive I would have liked for it to have a longer shelf life. Love the product, but wouldn't get it again. Not a good investment.

I purchased this clock in 2009 and am still using it to this day. I bought it when we lived in Seattle because I was having such a hard time with the late sun rises in the winter, being a southern girl. I will say that the concept works great and even after moving back to Texas I still use it everyday and have a hard time waking without the gradual light increase and mild alarm. In this regard the clock does what it's supposed to and I love it for it.I gave it 3 stars though because of two things: 1) the clock is inaccurate and in the months between time changes for daylight savings time my clock will eventually end up being almost 20 to 30 mins fast. 2) The light does get very hot and I would love if I could put a CFL in this instead of the regular light bulbs it takes. This is the only non-CFL or LED light in our entire house. Lastly, it would be nice if it came with alternate sounds, but that's really not a reason to give it lower stars.Overall, it works and does what it says it will do. But when this one finally breaks I'm not sure I'll purchase this particular clock again. I will be looking at other brands to see what's out there.

I really do love this alarm clock, it does double duty as a lamp. It's really very intuitive as far as alarm clock programming goes, which is really important because it has so many features.I've had mixed results with the dawn feature. First, the dawn feature really works best if you wake up every day at the same time. As a student, I try to keep a schedule but it is difficult, and I find myself waking to the alarm rather than the light. That being said, when I was working and kept a regular schedule I woke up mostly a few minutes before the alarm went off and it felt much more natural. It also doesn't work as well if you have too much natural light. I think it may be that you get used to sleeping through the natural light and so the dawn doesn't wake you up. This is not the greatest alarm clock for "snooze," but for me that's not a bad thing -- I abuse the snooze button.There is a sleep feature where the light goes down, which is really nice.
