This is super expensive and I bought it because it looks nicer than other sand timers. It stopped working after 2 days even after shaking and tapping it. The sand is completely clogged and it doesn’t work at all

Purchased this item back in the beginning of last month. Seemed like a quality product when it first arrived and I was very excited to install it in my sauna. The timer worked perfectly for several weeks and then, literally one day after the return period on Amazon ended, it suddenly stopped working. Ostensibly, the tubes that hold the sand are not properly weather-sealed because the sand has now stopped flowing. This leads me to speculate that some of the sand must have become slightly moist causing it to stop flowing properly. Don't try to pinch pennies like I did, go and spend the extra money to purchase a proper sand timer from a reputable sauna company, like Harvia, that produces functional products that will stand the test of time.

I like this a lot. Nice design, easy to install (screws included), functional. The only knock (one star off) is that it actually doesn't accurately measure the time. Overall, it doesn't really matter because all you really need to know is that a certain allotment of time has passed. Mine lasts about 13.5 minutes instead of 15. Oh well. Big whoop. One star off for attention to detail but I'd still buy it.

So - we installed this in our sauna before we checked to see if it actually worked. After the first sauna, it seemed like it wasn't working. THEN we set a phone time & turned on this timer - not even close. The sand timer wasn't even halfway done when the 15 minute phone timer went off. So annoyed. Our pretty sauna now has holes in it & this timer is being returned. Sadly, we also bought one for our neighbors who also have a sauna - guessing we'll be returning that one too.

We've got a sauna on order and my husband has visions of spending a lot of time in there. For me, I'm not a fan of a lot of heat or sweat so I'm sure I'll be out before the 15 minutes on this timer is up but I think it'll be a nice reminder for my hub if he pays attention to it. It's a very good size, spins freely on the hinge, has bright blue sand and nice sized markings that I think I won't have any issues seeing it from wherever I'm sitting. At first I thought the sand was plugged up but it's such a fine drizzle that it's barely noticeable, not like the little sand egg timers. There is no finish on it but cedar is good for moist environments so it should hold up without finish but, knowing my husband, he'll put at least 3 coats of finish on it just to protect it. This seems priced higher than others out there but we've done a lot of projects with cedar and I know it's not cheap so perhaps that's factored in. I'm looking forward to seeing if I even come close to staying in the sweat box for the full 15 mins.

Just built a sauna for the family. Was excited to use this sand timer instead of our phones for timed sessions. Sand timer stopped working after about a month of use. Guess we'll have to find a better product. Not an expensive loss, but this product should work a couple of years before crapping out. Don't buy!
