Excellent in all respects! Can’t go wrong with Yamaha
I needed a 6-mic mixer with effects and USB output for direct recording of live performances to my laptop. There are 2-3 singers with, a harmonium, and 1-2 voice announcers. For the last 14 years, I had been using a Peavey six-mic USB mixer, which had reached end of life. So after a lot of research and trial and error, I finally selected and bought this mixer. I received it on 5th November and in the last one week, I have thoroughly tested it for all the features and functions that I need. This mixer meets ALL my requirements completely and I am very happy with my choice. I will strongly recommend this to anyone who has similar requirements. I know many professionals who swear by Yamaha mixers and I have had the opportunity to see them up close. Also, I have been using Yamaha AV receivers and amplifiers for over 30 years, and one thing I can be sure of is with Yamaha, you simply cannot go wrong. My old Peavey mixer was fine, but after seeing this Yamaha, I realize how small things can make such a huge difference in ease of use and overall quality. In fact, about a month ago, I ordered a Behringer QX1220-USB, which has the same overall features and good clean sound, but the fifth and sixth mic inputs had only 40dB of gain, so I had to sell that mixer at a loss. Here are some of the features of this mixer that I really liked: 1. Excellent, clean, sound quality even at high gain settings. 2. Very well-designed layout – all controls, knobs, switches and jacks are where you expect them to be in a user-friendly way. This makes the mixer easy to use in live performances. 3. It has 24 effects (very easy to select and with adjustable parameters) with individual channel FX level knobs plus a dedicated FX master fader. 4. The USB 2.0 output is capable of upto 24bit/192kHz quality, which many other mixers in this price range don't have. 5. There are plenty of outputs – main stereo out jacks (two XLR and two TRS phone jacks), one USB output at the back (this also works as an input), two stereo AUX send jacks (TRS), two stereo group jacks (TRS), one pair of monitor jacks (TRS), one stereo foot-switch jack (TRS), and one stereo headphone jack (TRS). 6. Built-in one-knob compressors on the first four mic inputs. 7. PFL switches for each input – this was a new feature for me and I discovered how helpful it can be to isolate one channel and listen to it separately. 8. Universal voltage capability (110-240 V), with a 2-metre long standard IEC power cable. 9. Excellent build quality. It has a raised back, so the viewing angle is perfect, and they have cleverly used that to provide air circulation vents on the bottom. There are a couple of small things that I did not like: 1. The electric power cord they provided had a European plug (see picture). I contacted the dealer to replace it, but there was no response, so I simply cut it off and replaced it with a standard Indian 3-pin plug (because I wanted to use the original 2-metre cord as far as possible). 2. There is no RCA stereo output. My old Peavey mixer had this, and it was very useful to connect it directly to an amplifier. Overall, strongly recommended to anyone who is serious about sound quality, features, and value for money.

Excellent Product
As always, the Yamaha mixer is worth buying. The only issue that one should be aware is that, the channels 5/6, 7/8. 9/10, and 1/12 each will function as one channel. That is, channel 5/6 will function as one channel and so on. If you want to use them as two channels, then channel 5 will be heard only on the left side and channel 6 will come only on the right side. However, we want our vocals or instruments to be heard on both sides and therefore, we will have to use them as one channel. Thus, all together, there will be only 8 channels and not 12 channels. If you are okay with 8 channels, then, I strongly recommend that you close your eyes and go for it.

Review on online dealer like Appario Retail Private Ltd for Yamaha mixer.
I have purchased Yamaha MG12 XU on October end'2020. As it was new experience for me and I had started to explore the DAW - Cubase 10.5 AI which comes free along with this set.It took more than 1.5 months to understand the mixer and DAW operation.(Though I am a core technical guy) Gradually I come to understand as unable to do recording music and Vocal separately...All tracks are getting mixed in a single audio track. Where as physical mixer is working fine with PA system. When I contact service center ,I really shocked. As per their analysis it has hardware issue and I need to visit nearest service center . And finally I submitted in Pune Yamaha authorized center...After number of follow up calls and mails this set received from service center after changed it's mother board. It took approx 3 weeks. My sincere feedback- Yamaha is a premium brand. But the Delear - Appario Retail Private Ltd, form where I have received this set has sent me a faulty mixer . They have not checked through and because of that I have been harassed mentality and financially. My doubt become more concrete when I found one more invoice slip pasted in the same box ..Which was one month old. It means they have sent me returned by other customer and faulty set. My recommendation is not buy your dream set from such unethical delears-"Appario Retail Private Ltd" Be careful !!

This is a high quality, great sounding mixer that's easy to set up and use. I originally bought the 10 channel version to connect media source (iTunes/Apple Music) to existing amplifier for practicing drums. Once I got it, I connected a few low quality mics to my Kick and snare drum and Oh Man! this really woke up my drums. I immediately bought the 12 channel version to mic up the rest of my drums (8 pc set) and record my playing. PROs: Easy set up (plug and play to MacBook via USB for playback (Apple Music) and recording (Garage Band) with great sound using 5 low end mics. (2 overhead, kick, hats and snare). FX really adds to overall sound/experience. Excellent mixer for live performances. CONs: Only has 6 mic inputs and 6 balanced (RCA-1/4" Phono jacks) so I wasn't able to mic up my additional 6 toms (used overhead mics for toms and cymbals). Also, the "final mix" is done on the mixer itself, pre recording, meaning the output is stereo only (2 tracks using left/right if you use pan knobs on 2 channels) vs. multi track recording, so no adjustments/fine tuning can be done on individual channels/mics in the mix post recording. Due to the cons and wanting "best of both worlds" (live performance with multi track recording) and more importantly, more mic inputs for toms. I ended up returning this mixer. I've considered the 16 and 20 channel versions of this mixer by Yamaha but overall cost would get me more inputs but still not have multitrack adjustment flexibility post recording. Leaning towards an audio interface by PreSonus or Focusrite for recording and possibly feed the output of that to the 6 or 10 channel Yamaha MG**XU for live/practice. This is a great mixer and sorry I had to return it. I would definitely recommend this mixer if you don't need excessive mic inputs with multi track, post recording processing.

The good: Sound quality is superior. The build quality is superior. Decent price compared to other solid mixers. I could not believe the difference between this one and the cheaper one i replaced with this. The bad: I wish the outputs were on the back instead of on the top. It doesnt come with rack ears. The price: Is it more expensive than some of the cheaper models? NO. When you consider the cost of the cheaper one, with the cost of the swear jar, this one ends up being far less expensive. Don't waste time on junk. Save yourself the headache and just get a quality mixer to begin with.
