Very nice quality soil.
Stinky, which tells me it’s high quality lol. It’s a very nice soil, but expensive. So I mix it with a cheaper soil and some perlite and it’s wonderful. My plants love the worm castings.Note on the smell: out of the bag, it’s rank. However, once I put it in the plant pots, I didn’t notice the scent. It could just be the scent fermenting while in transit, so I wouldn’t be deterred by it! Just a heads up.

Good quality if you’re looking for quality v quantity. Worth it
I bought this about a month ago and potted a philodendron (rehab project trying to revive it after it was dying at Home Depot clearance rack) & used for some of my monsteras including my Swiss cheese one. After a month I’m leaving a 5 star because while the bag may not have had a ton of soil, I’m seeing all positive changes in the plants with this soil, I ordered 2 other around mixes to see which do the best but so far this one is having the most positive results. My philodendron has even sprouted a mushroom which indicates great soil, and my Swiss cheese monstera is loving its life and has reached the top of the moss pole after slow growth for a while. Will buy again but seems to work very well for the philodendron/monsteras so far.

Looks to be the best quality
I purchased this for some very small Elkhorn ferns so I shall give more update as I report them and show you how they grow. I’m excited for this purchase, but it’s as described and it looks like it is absolute the best quality and I’ll let you know further.

Perfect texture for rare plants and orchids
This substrate is chunky, airy, and holds moisture just right without turning soggy. Excellent for aroids or orchids that need airflow around the roots. Also great for mixing your own blends. A bit pricey, but worth it if you’re into exotic plant care.

Helps my plants retain a little moisture
I bought this to add to my extremely well draining soil mix. It was so dry the water poured straight through and it felt dry the very next day. With the tree fern soil added it the soil retains a little water. I do t have any trouble with fungus gnats. It’s easy to add and mix with the substrate I have made up the plants sent like it the soil retains more moisture and the plants don’t look roots all te time. It’s easy to use. Just mix it in. Plants seem to grow faster. There are plenty of nutrients in it

Great First Impression | Will Be Buying a Larger Size
Because of its reputation, I’m using New Zealand Pinus Radiata Bark then combining it with sphagnum moss for all my orchid repots. I don’t have long-term experience with this product yet, but so far I’m satisfied with its water retention. It’ll take some trial and error to figure out the best ratio with moss, especially compared to how I repotted previously …. but so far, so good. The product arrived virtually dust-free, with consistent chunk size and no debris or fillers. One review said it was “stinky”—I didn’t find that at all. Another mentioned it was “crumbly,” which also wasn’t my experience. I wonder if other product reviews are getting attributed to this product which is just bark, no soilYes, it’s a bit expensive, especially in the 1-quart size. Now that I know I like it, I’ll be ordering a larger, more cost-effective quantity next time.

Waste of money
This is the second time ordering this item from Amazon. I wish I could say I loved it and will continue to buy more but this bag sealed the deal, no more for me. I feel this is absolutely the worst quality one could buy, it crumbled in my hands, and just by pouring water on it. I now know why my bag had at least 2 lbs worth of useless dust . This soil is too expensive for the poor quality, don’t waste your money.

Small bags but my fault
I'm going to give it 5 stars simply because there was nothing wrong with the product. I had to return mine because I didn't notice it said it is 2 qts. I was in a hurry when I purchased and I thought it said it covers 2sqft
