Bought this LVPT gun to spray the rustoleum 2 part epoxy tub refinishing kit and it turned out great. You cannot beat the quality of this sprayer for the price. Simple to set up and easy to adjust flow and pressure. Absolute steal for 35 bucks

I ordered this spray gun to replace an old Harbor Freight HVLP gun that has seen better days. The two spray guns are very similar, with the exception that this kit comes with three different nozzles, which substantially adds to the versatility of the gun. I have several of these inexpensive HVLP spray guns which I use for a variety of finishes. To avoid any issues with cross contamination, I find it best to relegate each gun to a specific type of medium, so I have one gun for oil and laquear based products, one for water-based finishes, one for spraying ceramic glazes and one specifically used for spraying ceramic release materials on kiln shelves and glass molds. This gun, with its three nozzles, will work well with water-based finishes, using the 1.3 and 1.5 tips for clear finishes and the 1.8 tip for heavier bodied products. For my first use I tried spraying some commercial grade clear matt finish water-based polyurethane. I elected to use the 1.5 tip, as normally I would spray this using a 1.4 tip due to this material being fuller bodied than gloss or semi-gloss clear poly. Installing the 1.5 tip was a bit of a chore, the gun shipped with the 1.3 tip installed so tightly that it took the added leverage of a two-foot extension on the included wrench to break it loose. Based on how tight it was, I was surprised and pleased that the threads were not damaged. The 1.5 tip screwed on without issue. I found the pattern of this gun does not go as small as my old HF gun, I’d say it stops at about twice the smallest diameter the HF gun offers. The widest patterns were similar. I haven’t experimented enough with the gun to see if this can be resolved. The gun did a good job of providing uniform coverage in both narrow and wide spray patterns. The nozzles have a gasketed ring, which, if not over tightened, allows them to be rotated without loosening them, which is convenient and a real time saver while painting. I experienced no issues while using this spray gun, no leaks, with good even coverage. This kit comes with the gun body, cast in aluminum, three nozzles, needles and tips in 1.3,1.5 and 1.8, a small brush, Teflon tape, a quick connector, a hose connector, nozzle wrench and a small air pressure regulator with attached filter. I tried the pressure regulator and ended up not using it due to the added length it added to the gun. My shop air system is completely dry with dedicated commercial grade filtered regulators and hoses for painting, eliminating my need for the included regulator/filter. I prefer the feel of the gun without the regulator attached. If you have dirt or moisture in your air supply, I would recommend using it in addition to investing in a decent filter system. At the time of my order this kit was priced at about $35, which, considering the quality of the gun and the inclusion of the three nozzles and matching needles, seems like a decent value for an inexpensive HVLP spray gun.
