Comfortable F1 style driving
Love this seat! Bought a 32” MSI monitor and Playseat stand to go with it. Driving position is super-low, feels like your in the car. Only using a Logitech 920 wheel and pedals (2Nm) so very little force feedback to affect the rig. Once it’s all put together, it’s heavy and sturdy, no movement. Word of warning though - it took a long time to put together (5+ hours) and this was partly because the instructions could be clearer, but we got there in the end. Also, it’s all held together with M8 and M6 bolts which you need to be super gentle with them to get them screwing in as we threaded one bolt but luckily it hasn’t affected the rig. Have some WD40 or Motorex 2000 grease handy.

This is a great product! If u are a f1 sim racer this is the rig for u! VERY STURDY and comfortable to sit for hours. Not sure how long cushions will last but I'm sure u can get replacments anyways. Setup was easy and even though instructions arnt the best, minimal parts means less plcs that get loose over time. Foot tray is like a rock and ain't moving no matter how hard u press on it

Playseat is among the premium brands for sim racing cockpits. So, I didn't expect anything less when it came to quality; this is a great product. It may be too high-priced for many, but this is the reality of sim racing. To find the best comfort and stability, you'll have to spend more than you anticipated 'buy once, cry once.' Firstly, let's start with the cons (of which there are very few): - it's not a true F1 position (although advertised as such). I'd say it's a cross between that and GT. It is possible to adjust the angles of your pedals to get close to the F1 style (though probably not exact due to the cockpit's inherent construction), but I'm not sure how comfortable it would be - this is not related to the cockpit itself but to the packaging. I so wish companies would segment their nuts and bolts according to the sizes from the get-go (instead of having to individually do it yourself). This would reduce the time to assemble quite a bit. Onto the positives: - it is surprisingly compact considering how many parts make up the cockpit. The design is really clever. - the adjustability is pretty broad here (whether it's the pedals or wheelbase section), accommodating various angles and distances to suit many driver heights - the carbon steel/aluminium quality is rock solid everywhere, from the overall frame to the seat. If you accidentally hit your toe on any part, you definitely feel pain. Extending from the last point, I've seen from a trusted site that you can run up to 20nm of wheelbase torque here. I am using 12nm (Moza R12) with no flexing or instability at all (I am confident that any higher would perform just fine). Overall, I was happy with this cockpit. If you're looking to upgrade or buy a cockpit for the first time (and keep it for years), it's worth getting!!

Hi Everybody! I just wanted to write a review and share my thoughts. I hope that someone finds this to be the exact information they were looking for. Assembly - Okay, first and foremost, if you’re not mechanically inclined, I can see how it would be difficult to put together, as some people have expressed. I used to be a motorcycle mechanic, and even I found it a bit tough at times. It’s definitely a slight workout as well, and I was a bit sore the next day. Oddly enough, the two most difficult parts were assembling the steering wheel platform and attaching the upper portion of the seat to the lower portion. That being said, I found the instructions to be easy to follow. Comfort – I’m a big guy. I’m 5’11” and 250 lbs, or 113 kg. I was worried that the seat may be too narrow or uncomfortable. It’s neither of these two things. The back is wider than the Playseat Challenge X that I upgraded from, and once you adjust the seating pads in just the right way, it’s as comfortable as any chair I’ve sat in. In fact, I’m finding it to be more comfortable for long sessions than the Challenge X. Quality – The Formula Instinct feels solid and tight in every way it should. There is no flex in the frame, and I can really thrash it in races without worrying that I’m going to bend or even break it, as was the case with the Challenge X. Additionally, I don’t feel like I’m going to have to replace anything for years. I wasn’t so sure about the seat on the Challenge X. Appearance – The Formula Instinct looks amazing and makes me want to go race every time I look at it. Storage – This is the tricky bit. It fits in the same space I set aside to store my Challenge X. I didn’t fold the Challenge X; I only folded up the pedals and placed them behind the steering wheel, leaving the seating position in place. However, the Formula Instinct is heavy and unwieldy once the pedal and wheels are attached, making moving it by a single individual potentially tough. The combined weight of my new setup comes out to around 62.5 lbs, or about 28 kg. To give you a comparison, the total weight of my previous setup with the Challenge X was about 38 lbs, or 17 kg. I have found that if I release and lower the U-bar that the wheel is mounted on, down to the pedals, I can stand in the middle of the assembly and pick it up from the frame, like picking up a set of dumbbells, walking it over to where its reserved storage space is. Just remember to lift carefully. 🙂 Overall – I love it! It’s the best thing to ever have happened to my sim racing hobby. The seat is a little pricey, but I justified it as an investment that will last me for years to come. Amazon also has payment plans. Assembly was pretty easy in general but time-consuming, and in hindsight, an extra set of hands to assist in holding things in place occasionally would have been the way to go. It’s easy to get in and out of, especially if you lower and raise the U-bar as necessary. The Formula Instinct is comfortable and sturdy, even for a big guy like me. The Playseat Formula Instinct F1 has been a complete upgrade in every way. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I’m enjoying mine! Thanks for reading.
