The Eye of the Needle (DVD + Blu-ray)

I bought this film, only available on DVD, to find it's being released on blu-ray in the summer of 2018. I guess I'll be buying it again. A great film that doesn't appear to be well known and yet should be.

One of the most thrilling films I have seen, full of excitement from beginning to end. The film is set in various locations, fast moving and set in magnificent scenery. The acting was superb especially the little boy who melted my heart. Thank you Amazon I will treasure this film.

This is worth an evening in. But the book is so much better and more satisfying.Sutherland is fantastic, as Sutherland. The lead lady is terrific, as is her husband. The plot rattles along, but only picks up specific bits of the Follet book and as a result is full of holes. In the book the key thing is that nobody knows what Die Nagel looks like - but here there are multiple people who know him or meet or work with him, so a chunk of the plotting disappears.That's the main example, but there are lots of minor bits. However, as I said, it rattles along so it's well worth a watch. But do yourself a favour and read the book, which is terrific.

This is a good WW2 spy film, the lead actor is the inimitable Donald Sutherland. He ends up on a Scottish island and against his better judgement falls in love wìth the Kate Nelligan character. The outcome is inevitable, the film was gripping .

Reasonably entertaining old fashioned war film with solid performances from Donald Sutherland (in a similar role to his turn in the superior 'The Eagle Has Landed') and Kate Nelligan but the excellent Ian Bannen is criminally wasted. The first half is a 'Thirty-nine Steps'-type hunt for the spy (reminiscent of the Stephen Boyd section of 'The Man Who Never Was') with the second half a three-hander, cat and mouse drama on a Scottish island.

Really frustrating.I have been wanting to see this movie for a few years. I saw it many years ago (20+) and loved it so wanted my own copy.But the company took my money then told me it was not available.Very frustrating.I gave it 3 starts as I am sure the movie is still good.

Really good film Donald Sutherland is one of my favourite actors he made loads of famous films klute,dont look now,remake of invasion of the bodysnatchers etc.i taped this film off film four about 10 years ago it was cut to pieces im very happy this is full version.

Still an excellent film in a nice transfer. The bonus Ealing short wartime propoganda films are also interesting and worth a watch.
