Solid, and well made bars and brackets, and that was a pleasing result for the UK price of £72.99. Under half the price of a Toyota set. As these will only be used for light duties, the maximum weight limit was not a problem, compared to Toyota's higher maximum. Unfortunately, one of the four locking pins prevented a five star rating. This is not critical to keeping the bars on the roof, it's more of a cosmetic thing. These pins are the things that hold the covers on the mounting brackets to hide the internals. They have a 'T' shaped end that passes through a slot in the inner bracket, and then turns to lock. The final one would not rotate more that 45°, and that was after ensuring the cover was correctly 'snapped on' to the bracket. The fault seems to be the soft plastic of the locking pin had no strength to retain the soft plastic of the locking key and they simply rotated out of their matching grooves and damaged each other. The fact that three of the pins did their jobs acceptably showed I was doing things right. Please note, I was installing the bars on a cold day, and so the plastic pins may have been less pliant than they'd be on a warm day, but as the three other pins worked as they should, that's not the point. So, leaving the locking pin indicator arrows at the three and nine o'clock positions, instead of fully locked at the five and 11 o'clock positions, and fearing the pin could fall out in transit, I have cable tied the cover in place, and will be placing some tape over the pin hole to prevent its loss. As I don't keep the bars on the vehicle, I am dreading the unlocking procedure, and with multiple future installations, I don't reckon these plastic pins will survive. I will keep an eye open for some suitable clips/pins that would be more sturdy. Overall, I am content to keep the bars, and the cosmetics are just something to put up with whilst the bars are fitted.
