Absolutely beautiful book! It is a rich history of Palace Costume clothing collections from the 20’s to the 80’s. The photos are stunning with many of them being taken with an almost x-ray like feel. You really get to see how well made clothes and accessories were made. Then with different costume designers explaining their experiences of going into the shop and working with the owner Melody Barnett and her partner Lee Ramstead. No where is there a collection of treasures that Melody and Lee have so lovingly put together for designers and the movie business to access for reference pieces. Thank you Mimi Haddon for your insight and phots of a beautiful subject. By the way, this would be perfect gift for anyone at all interested in fashion design or history Christmas is comimg!

The photos in this book are stunning! I have been looking through the book for hours. The stories and explanation of each item is informative and educational and I feel like an insider learning about the history of these pieces. I also love sharing this book with friends and having it available on my coffee table for my guests to see. Thank you for this book!

This was such a gorgeous book!This book explores Palace Costume, a costume rental house in Los Angeles that specializes in vintage clothing. The first part of the book featured interviews with the founder and numerous costume designers. The interviews were very insightful and were a fun way to tell the history and story of the Palace Costume. The rest of the book featured pictures of the clothes in the collection.The photography was stunning. The clothes were captured in such interesting ways. I also loved how the images flowed nicely. As I was flipping through the pages, I felt like I watching a fashion show with how they were organized. I could tell there was a lot of thought behind the way the photos were ordered.However, I would have loved to have seen more pictures of the inside of the store. The way the store was talked about made it seem so cool and unique; I wanted to see more of the different rooms. I also would have liked captions for the photos. I wanted more information on the clothes I was seeing.Overall, this was a beautiful book! If you love fashion (especially vintage clothes), you’ll enjoy this one!

Mimi Haddon should be so proud of this fabulous collection of work. What an amazing world to capture and preserve. The combination of stunning, insider photos and written interviews has something for everyone. I’m obsessed with the lovely touches on the book itself: Edge painting and a book ribbon - two things that remind me of my childhood diaries. Even if you don’t know many names in this industry, you’ll learn neat details about movies you’ve seen and gain appreciation for the work by designers.

Beautiful collection! I love all things fashion in Hollywood facts and this book was a delicious treat! A two-for-one deal! Very insightful and colorful! I love this! This book is definitely something to share with friends and family who are addicted to all things fun and fashion!
