This water-based material is said to be suitable for any porous/absorbent stone substance. I'm not aware that any claim is made for chlorine resistance. In my case I have used it on the natural sandstone of our front door steps. Three coats applied after thorough precleaning has given substantial weather proofing. Q: does it protact against bird poo

Hi, this will offer some protection although due to the nature of bird droppings we would advise that they are cleaned off as they can penetrate through the sealer if left on the surface for periods of time.

Q: How many 5L bottles would be needed to cover 9m2; assuming 2 coats would be needed?

I believe one container should be enough. I applied three coats to my natural sandstone front steps, which are roughly that area, and still had a small amount left.
