Q: Does this require a self-etching primer to use it on aluminum? I want to toss the carpet and paint the deck.

From everything I read before doing my little aluminum boat you need to use the MP (Metal Primer) before using the Tuff Coat. As important is getting the surface really clean. I used the recommended cleaning agent from Home Depot as a degreaser; after a thorough rinsing with water I used 50/50 white vinegar and water, then applied the MP primer from Tuff Coat. The next day I rolled on two coats of Tuff Coat. I'm pleased with the results so far, but the boat has not had any use yet. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Q: Do I have to use a primer for concrete?

Yes. You must use TUFF Coat’s CP-10 Primer. It’s is required by the manufacturer.

Q: Will is adhere to gelcoat?

Yes but uses the right primer , and you need to cuff up gel coat wash with zep soap let it dry and put on thin coat I sprayed my boat with a hopper gun uses thin goats let it dry between coats I had never used it but this is all my boat it getting from now on no more sand in gel coat this stuff works

Q: Amazon lists ut100 and ut100 sr smooth what is difference can't find it on any other website they all list the ut100 for boat decks?

UT-100 includes rubber particles for extra slip resistance. UT-100 SR (Smooth Rubber) has smaller rubber pieces and has a smoother finish. I found the UT-100 to be good for my boat deck (definitely slip resistant but rubber pieces are not too big), but you should be fine with either one for a boat deck.
