Slick look, Bad Job! Avoid!!!
The media could not be loaded. I’ve got to say, this SUMRY HGX-4KW hybrid solar inverter really had me sold at first glance. Between the clean black exterior, the slick tempered glass top with that big 6.25-inch LCD screen, and the promise of 4000 watts of pure sine wave output plus 8000 watts of surge power, it looked like exactly what I needed for my off-grid setup. I’m running everything out of a travel trailer with a 24V solar system, and I needed something that could handle solar, battery, and generator input. This model claimed it could do all of that, and the price seemed totally reasonable for the feature list, especially with that high 140A MPPT charge controller and a decent PV input range. I even liked the style—it actually looked like something that belonged in a modern solar setup, not an old farm shed. But man, things went downhill fast. Wanting to get everything dialed in, I reached out to SUMRY support before even firing it up, just to be sure I had the right battery settings there’s 30 different settings. They gave me about three or four setting values for my LiFeP04 battery bank, and then basically told me not to worry about the rest. That should’ve been my first red flag. Because after installation, I fired up my generator to give the batteries a boost and noticed the inverter recognized the AC input but didn’t actually do anything with it. No battery charging. No AC output. Just… silence. And then, at 1:30 in the morning—because these things never fail at a convenient time—everything shut off. It completely drained the battery bank from 50% down to zero. Now, this isn’t our first solar rodeo. We know our usage patterns, and there’s no way that amount of power was used up naturally. Turns out the inverter itself is an absolute hog, even just on standby. That’s a total dealbreaker for anyone living off-grid like we do, where efficiency matters more than cosmetics. And I wish that was the end of the headache, but no. Over the next 24 hours, I went through endless back-and-forth with customer support, trying to figure out why the inverter wouldn’t use the generator or any AC input the way it should. I beg them multiple times to confirm all of the settings that I had with what should be because I felt that possibly one of the settings could’ve been off. They never provided me with a list of all of the settings like I requested, and then that’s when I found out the real catch—this thing only works with AC input if you basically do a full reset every time. You have to shut off all loads, disconnect the batteries, turn the batteries back on, then turn on your generator or AC input, wait a few minutes, and then turn on the AC output. That process has to happen every time. That’s not hybrid operation—that’s a workaround that makes absolutely no sense, and it completely defeats the purpose of having a generator or grid backup for your solar system. I’m not trying to run a science experiment every time a cloud rolls in.Not to mention another major thing is that it kept attempting to backfeed power into my generator. Even though when I reached out to them, I let them know. I was using the generator, and they assured me that this model does not back feed into the grid or the generator. It nearly blew up my generator! As you can see in the video it recognizes my solar also recognizes the load that I have and that it’s charging the battery. Then I turn on the generator and it recognizes that for a split second and then you’ll see that the battery tries back feeding into the generator. This was just a headache all around! Almost ruined a $3000 generator set up!And here’s the worst part—that constant cycling of power just to get AC input working is brutal on sensitive electronics. I’ve got a microwave and a smart TV in the trailer that do not appreciate the power surging on and off. Plus, trying to explain this mess of a procedure to anyone else in the house feels like I’m giving instructions to launch a rocket. At that point, the inverter’s flashy design starts to feel like a cruel joke. All the great craftsmanship and “high-quality” materials mean nothing when the thing can’t even do what it claims. And the idea that this is a reliable, functional hybrid inverter? Not even close.Honestly, the only thing this inverter does consistently is frustrate me. If I just needed something that looked cool on the wall and lit up when I touched it, maybe it’d be worth the money. But I needed something that would help keep the lights on, not something that makes me jump through hoops to get basic backup power. I don’t know how there are positive reviews for this unless folks haven’t tried to use it with AC input yet—or they were paid to stay quiet. If you’re serious about solar and you’re living off-grid or prepping for emergencies, do not waste your time or money on this. It’s a headache in a pretty box.

Does exactly what it says it will, A +
The media could not be loaded. The Sumry 3600w inverter was gifted to me and sent to me, I am off grid and have to run solar and or a generator when needed. Id does Everything they say it does and switch's over seamlessly between, Grid, solar and or batteries as needed. If your familiar with programming an MPPT controller, setup is pretty strait forward. For me the manual was easy to read and understand, but for those who are not familiar with this type of product I see how it might be confusing. Line 2 output is disabled by default but easily turned back on in the menu. The one thing you should do before turning the unit on with its power button is go into the menu and make sure its set to 60hz (Default is 50 Hz)Over all I am extremely pleased with it. And I will be keeping this unit and using it 24/7 until my budget allows me to upgrade to a larger unit.

Sent me a used non working item.
The inverter I received was obviously used and did not work. What I ordered was not what I got. I am going on 3 weeks since I returned it and still have not received a refund.
