If you are looking for a baseball to use in an indoor space (e.g., a school gym, YMCA or Boys & Girls Club), this is a fantastic, durable product. It has the look and feel of a regular baseball, but the fabric covering and softer stitching will keep wood floors from getting scuffed and windows or sky lights from getting broken. It is lighter and much softer on impact than a regular baseball, so it is very unlikely to break a window unless one is purposefully trying to do so. The Incrediball is also a terrific transitional baseball for younger players whose hand-eye coordination might not yet be ready for a regular hard ball. The much softer impact will help young players go after the ball with confidence without worrying as much about getting hurt. As a coach, I usually have at least three types of base balls in my car--a hard ball, a foam ball that you can use as a fairly silent and harmless wall ball, and an Incrediball. If my boys and I are out somewhere and decide to have a catch, we usually reach for the Incrediball if there are any cars and/or windows in the area. If one hits a car, it will make a bit of a thud, but will not do any damage that I have seen or even leave a scuff mark. The last advantage of the Incrediball is that it is very easy to make it curve, given the slight squishyness of the ball. If you have a youth player who is trying to adjust to hitting breaking balls, just about anyone can consistently throw a decent curve with this ball. My husband and kids love this ball. It’s the one they choose for a casual game of catch - always. It’s a little softer than a typical baseball but weighs the same so it’s nice for practice but doesn’t hurt your hand as much.

I purchased 2 balls for my sons 6 and 4 years old to work on catching the ball. The ball is softer than a soft T-ball and has a cloth/fabric feel rather than the leather/synthetic feel. It is also lighter than a regular T-ball. The purpose of my purchase was to work on catching the ball and not being afraid of being hit by a harder ball and it works. Both are more comfortable with catching this ball and it hold up well on grass, dirt but have not tried it asphalt/cement. I would highly recommend using this ball for youth/T-ball level players learning to catch the ball.

if your kid is a little hesitant to start using a hardball straightaway then the incrediball is the answer, and better than the ragball I remember practicing with to gain confidence. well recommended

These balls are holding up great to the wear and tear of a youth league. Even the adults have been hitting them and no problems with keeping shape and staying together. We have had a few instances of kids getting hit but the softness has saved them. A regular ball would have created some terrible injuries. They are regulation size and weight and also travel well. I highly recommend for leagues where the basics are being taught. I will buy these again without comparing to others, if I ever need to buy again!

This is a soft BASEBALL. It's fine for baseball practice. If you're looking for an actual SOFTBALL, keep looking.

We're using this to start out my son with catch, it is perfect for that. If you want it for hitting off a tee you may want to look at something rubber. The cloth cover on this is perfect for catch but not sure how it would do beyond that but I don't think it's intended to anyway.
