The book accomplishes perfectly what is said in the title. Horary astrology is presented as plain and simple, yet without loss of the tremendous power this branch of astrology has. It is about time that the astrological community reconsider the emerging humanistic approach as with fading accuracy and precision, whereas the traditional branches (horary, electional, mundane) are astrology's sharpest. All we need is just the simple Taoist philosophy of equanimity so that we are not scared to death by the bluntness of traditional methods, but that we can make use of the honest and accurate results to make better choices in life. We can view them as tools for expressing free will optimally rather than viewing these systems as fatalistic.I am a fan of Anthony Louis' work. I simply got tired of "analyzing potentials" as the main dictum of natal astrology. What good is a potential positive vocation or karmic path found in dizzying natal analysis, if not guided by the powerful timing devices that can be learned from horary and electional astrology?Also, I highly recommend studying this book before getting into electional astrology. The latter is but the "converse problem" of horary. (That is, for horary, given the time, what is the outcome, while for electional, given the desired outcome, what time?) First studying horary through this book prepares the student for better judgement in the electional art.Another good feature of the book is that it clarifies the astounding amount of rules in horary. Louis points out the essentials and gives practical considerations and techniques. Studying Lily alone, for instance, will not help a beginning student.

The author Anthony Louis did a very thorough job covering the many aspects of horary astrology. Although his writing style is engaging with touches of humour and interesting anecdotes,I still found I needed to re-read this book at least three times to grasp the detailed information needed to understand horary charts. I own a number of other horary astrology books, but I can confidently say that this is one of the best available out there (John Frawley's book "The Horary Text" is brilliant as well). If predictive astrology interests you, then this is not only a purchase you won't regret, but also a necessary study for any serious student of astrology.

Horary Plain and Simple is not all that plain simple once you start reading the book. It's a bit confusing trying to comprehend what the author is talking about when you have not yet covered a topic that is being brought up. The author discusses things such as Trines, Squares, Orbs, and conjuctions before even explaining what these things are and what they mean when interpreting a chart. While I was already familiar with most of these terms the beginner astrologer might not grasp these concepts. However everything is explained in the chapter after the one in which they are introduced. While this may seem a little unorthodox it really does work quite well.Another thing that is not mentioned until you start reading the book is that this book covers both modern and traditional (Classical) Horary Astrology. It does use the three outer planets in the interpretations, however if you are like me; a student of William Lilly (or other Traditional Astrologer) it is really not hard to find a modern list of views pertaining to the traditional 7 planets and what interpretations can be used for modern living. Many of Lilly's charts are used in this title and he is referred to many times throughout as well as others such as Ptolemy. The author also includes many of his own charts from the past to add that modern feel. This books value far out weights the considerably miner issues. It is definitely something I will refer back to for many years to come.I do suggest at least understanding of the basics of astrology. The very basics at least.

I had never gotten into horary astrology before. I have been playing with and find it interesting. It is written so it is understandable.

I gotta be honest I didn’t not read this book from cover to cover. I bought it as more of a manual while I worked through horary charts. The first thing I did was use horary to find my nail file which I couldn’t find hours. I asked a question and made a chart and turned to the chapter in the book about finding lost things and I used what I was seeing in the chart and the corresponding descriptions in the book. I found my nail file using the information I gathered and it was in a place I would’ve never looked!! Blew my mind!

Horary astrology isn't by any means a simple subject, but readers of Anthony Louis' Tarot book know that he has a knack for simple explanation and very good writing. That's much on display here. Louis' examples of the complicated principles of this branch of astrology make understanding their use and application much easier. This is NOT an astrology book for beginners, and may be too much for even intermediate students. But for the person who has a very good grasp of astrological principles, it's a treasure. I expect to have it in my bookcase for many years to come.

Anthony Louis is well read and it goes for interesting reading. However, when you've studied Lilly, Barclay and other authors, Louis comes across as a little bit superficial, especially when he deals with actual charts. Sometimes he's a little too talkative, at other times it's nice with a break from the heavy stuff. It's a good beginner's book on horary, but still one has the impression that Louis wrote this book at a time when he hadn'r studied horary for very long.

Very good thorough book.New to horary and was recommended this book by a fellow student.This book will walk you through one of the many valleys of horary astrology.

I love the author for being able to present the subject of horary astrology in such an easy-to-follow manner like no other author. Earlier I really struggled to understand horary, but this changed with this book. Thank you, Mr. Luis!

love this book. explanation is really nice. based on western astrology, i got open to some new basics and will apply for in my prashnas for refinement.

This book is very complete and easy to use, you can understand horary astrology and learn a lot of so many other things! I am enjoying it a lot!

An excellent book for anybody interested in Horary Astrology. The guy is a master at this technique. Well woth the read.
