Hayward FDXLHXA1250 Heat Exchanger Assembly Replacement for Hayward H250FD Universal H-Series Low Nox Pool Heater

If you’re freaking about how expensive it is to get a new heat exchanger installed and want to try and save $$ by doing it yourself but aren’t sure you’ll be able to- order this now. Anyone who’s the least bit handy and has 1/2 a brain can install this. It’s a lot of unscrewing panels but then once you disconnect the plumbing, it pops right in perfectly with minimal things to connect once it’s in there. It is easy. I’m a single mom and was super worried about biting off more than I could chew- it was not hard. The part came on time and packaged very nicely as to not become damaged during shipping. This is an actual Hayward replacement. Also- for anyone out there newer to the pool thing like me. Make sure you have a check valve in your plumbing between the chlorinator and the heater!!!!

Takes a little time to replace but works great. Worth doing on your own if you are a little bit on the handy side. There’s lots of screws to remove. The step by step directions are very helpful. Saved $1000 doing it on my own.

I loved my Hayward 250000 pool heater for 10 years! Great craftsmanship and quality product. The heat exchanger finally started leaking after 10 years of use. Being very mechanicaly skilled, I ordered this new exchanger and installed it the 1st. of June 2021! Used it for the next four months and then shut it down for the winter. Used the heater for five months in 2022. The summer of 2023 the heater was used from May until mid-July when this unit started leaking! I wasn't happy, but rlunctly ordered another exchanger and installed it the second week of August. IT STARTED LEAKING YESTERDAY AFTER 6 WEEKS!! I have operated our pool since 1978. I know pool chemistry inside out. The original lasted 10 years. These replacement exchangers are junk, pure and simple!!! Pool water chemistry is not the problem!!! This is a narrative the company wants to perpetuate to cover up the poor quality of these replacements!!!!

Works as it should

This heat exchange fit perfect. It was easy to install and took me an hour or so to pull out the old one and put this one in the heater. Saved lots of $$ doing it myself.

After a week of getting the run around from Hayward's extremely horrible customer service for what should have been a warranty replacement, I finally gave up and ordered this heat exchange. It was a perfect match and took about an hour to install. Hopefully it will last longer than the 15 months the original one lasted.
