Q: Is this something a person who doesn't have much diy experience can do, or do i have to hire a handyman?

Yes i feel that someone with limited experience can install these. Remember to measure mark and dry fit before drilling for install. Use screws that are 3/4 the thickness of your panel and pre-drill the holes to keep from splitting the wood. I used double sided tape to temporarily mount the hardware to check my dry fit.
