I have no idea what halal is. I would suggest you call the company. I've used many Knorr Products over the years and found all of them to be good. I've used this for many years to make home made chicken soup. It adds just the right flavor.

Q: How much of the powdered caldo de tomate do i use in place of the cubed version?

I use one tablespoon per cup of water (that equals one cube), depending on how salty you prefer it. However, when I am making soup, if I use 6 cups of water, I only use 5 tablespoons of the powder.

Q: Can someone explain the bad math? 8oz at $8.5 is NOT $.08 per ounce... or am I missing something?

I do not believe it does. Under the description, I scrolled down and there is a list of ingredients Also Knorrs phone number is there 1 866 KNORR-01.
