My opinion only here...it will take the place of a gasket..An o ring......I would not recommend...

Is this a good choice for the water pump gasket (stamped metal) on a Kubota tractor?

I have used this on pumps before with out any problems, both water and mineral oil based fluids. My first choice for your application would be an RTV compound. Hope this helps.

I have a leak and need to remove the oil pan. I only apply the seal to the oil pan and not on the oil pan frame on the car before the gasket install?

I have used Yamabond 4 to seal the two halves of the engine block without any other gasket. . I guess I would use it for this oil pan too. With a gasket I would also use this. I think permatex has something simular.
