Mastering the Mechanics: Grades K–1: Ready-to-Use Lessons for Modeled, Guided, and Independent Editing

I teach students with IEPs. They have difficulty with phonics, reading comprehension, and writing. In fact, they dread writing. Teaching writing is an area I do not have much experience in. This is a great resource with modeling, work samples, and "turn and talks." It also gives you guidance for charts to display on your wall so kids know what to check for in their own writing.

As a kindergarten teacher, I found this very useful when teaching writing. My students are excited and engaged during writing now.

The lessons are easy to follow. Love the calendar for each week of the school year with lessons for each week.

This book is highly reccomended for K-1 teachers. There are also versions for older students. It could be used in sequence or used to teach particular concepts to your class.
