ALL rThis 3 1/2 hour DVD consists of eight sections of great straight razor information including hones and honing, strops and stropping, shaving demo (hot towel), an intro to mugs, soaps and brushes, eBay buying, cleaning razors, minor restoration including a dremel demo, great resources including books, what to look for in buying a razor, eBay questions, great razors including part of Lynn`s collection and a whole bunch of good information. r rYou will likely find this DVD to be the most important `tool` in your shaving kit!

Really good instructional video. Lynn goes into a lot of detail. I mainly got this so I would know how to properly hone my razor. Now I can hone my razor and more. Well done.

I really did not know what to expect but I read the reviews and I am certainly glad that I had purchased this DVD. A great source of information on straight razors from history to honing and using the razor and everything in between. This is probably the most informative resource on the subject of straight razors that you could find.

Not For Newbies
I made this purchase after reading some good reviews and because of the expertise that Lynn Abrams has. I was expecting a thorough overview of what it takes for a newbie to get indoctrinated to the many facets of straight razor shaving. Don't get me wrong, he's got great demos on the actual shaving and stropping, along with some awesome tips. However, the other content discussion; vintage razors, other resource books, honing and restoring razors; were misplaced content to say the least. These topics are important, but they have more relevance in an advanced DVD, not one for novices. A newbie is more interested in getting a more in depth discussion of topics such as: what to look for in a straight edge razor (5/8" or 6/8", type of point, type of grind) and different types of brushes (boar, pure badger, super badger or silvertip). Someone thirsting for of straight razor education, is not going to be interested in restoring or honing a razor, but somewhere down the road. I had to get my information from a number of different web sites, something I was looking to avoid with this DVD. This should definitely be advertised as not one for the novice.
