How long does it take to cook an omelette??

We cook ours for six minutes and they are still too brown on the outside. ALWAYS done on the inside, so we are likely going to drop it to four minutes. Our instruction booklet also says 12, they were dry on the inside at hard and crunchy on the outside at 8 minutes. 12 made them inedible.

does oil or water need to be added when the Egg is poured? and how?

I pour a little oil into one of the wells and spread it around the top and bottom of both wells with a paper towel BEFORE heating the unit. I do not add any water at any time, just beat 4 eggs with some seasoning salt and add about 1/4 to 1/3 cup grated cheese (cheddar, jack, what ever you like), pour into heated unit, not exceeding fill line. Hope this helps. Also, you can add things like olives, chopped roasted bell peppers, what ever you like after beating in the cheese, just don't overfill the wells!
