Strong, sensitive and light; what's not to like?
Back in August of 2021, I purchased a Kastking Estuary Inshore Saltwater Rod for an inshore trip to Louisiana. Unfortunately, Hurricane Ida laid waste to Terrebonne Parish, and delayed my trip until last week on April 22, 2022. The model I purchased was the 7’, Medium Power/Moderate Fast Spinning Rod. When I first received the rod, I was amazed at how light it was. I did not think a rod that light could deal with 20 plus pound Redfish and/or Black Drum… I was wrong, dead wrong and should have known better… I paired this rod with a Kastking Valiant Eagle (Bald Eagle Edition) 3000 series spinning reel and 15lb Kastking Kastpro braided line and it performed like a champ…My Guide had never saw Kastking equipment and he was thoroughly impressed with the craftmanship and the lightness of the rod. Being Medium Power, he wasn’t sure it could handle Redfish more than 20 pounds, either. He also felt that a 3000 series reel was somewhat light; however, he was anxious to see how Kastking tackle performed.I ended up catching 3 Redfish that weighed 21, 22, and 25 pounds, respectively. The Estuary Inshore Rod performed admirably. Now, I couldn’t “horse” the fish in by any means, but it was fun to play them for 15 plus minutes and wear them down before getting them in. I do have a 7’ Medium Heavy/Fast Estuary Inshore Road as well, and it might be more suited for bigger Redfish. These rods are not only light and aesthetically pleasing to look at (the light blue finish is awesome), but they are also tough and very, very sensitive. Again, my guide could not believe a rod that light and sensitive, could be so powerful. He was very impressed. The Kastking Estuary Inshore rods are made with IM7 Torey Carbon blanks, which, in and of itself, is strong but when they add the Nano Resin coating it adds approximately 22% more strength to the rod and adds zero weight. The cork handles are tough and provide for excellent grip. The American Tackle Microwave MW 20-line guides are the icing on the proverbial cake as they provide for longer and more accurate casts.I use Kastking products almost exclusively and I can tell you with no reservations that the Kastking Estuary Inshore Rods are the real deal… Strong, sensitive, and light with enough backbone to bring in big Bull Redfish, Black Drum, Speckled Sea Trout and Flounder; what more could you ask for? And the price is right… Pair a Kastking Estuary Inshore Rod with a 3000 to 4000 series Kastking Sharky III or KastKing Zephyr Carbon Spinning Reel, spool up with some 15 to 20lb KastPro or Destron braided line, and you’ve got the perfect weapon for inshore fishing…

Nice rod, would buy again!
Received quickly, was packed carefully in a nice, sturdy tube. Finally got it to try it today and I'm pretty impressed... it's light, casts a mile with accuracy, and has good sensitivity with what seems like plenty of backbone. Looks good, too. Going to get the baitcasting version next week. Great job KastKing!

Small eyes and guides
Didn’t care for the small eyes.

Gorgeous Rod
The rod itself is awesome. Maybe a bit more blue than I expected given the pictures but that’s minor compared to the quality of the rod. The delivery drivers tried hard to break it, going so far as to destroy the tube it was in, but the rod persevered. Go grab one if you can. Be prepared to wait and hope your delivery was better than mine haha

KastKing DOES stand behind their products!
UPDATE OCTOBER 2024:Perhaps I just got a dud, and these things happen. KastKing reached out to me and addressed all my concerns. I was able to reattach the internet’s eyelet and it has held up well ever since. I still can’t rate it the full 5 stars, but given the quality of the rest of the rod, paired with the fantastic KastKing customer service I’m changing my initial rating to 4 stars. Thank you KastKing! This rod had good reviews and initially performed well. Note that the image suggests this is a 2-piece rod but it is not.Went fishing with it twice and the rod tip insert on the eyelet fell out. VERY disappointed! The warranty is junk and it would cost me a fortune to return it for repair so will see if I can get it fixed locally, but for what this rod costs the quality is crap.Spend your hard-earned dollars elsewhere.Kastking has some good products, but this is not one of them.

Good looking rod but guides are crap!!!
I live in Naples FL and I fish near shore and back shore saltwater every week when weather permits. I like to site fish cobia and permit. I also fish for giant snook. I bought this Kastking spinning rod to fish for schooling permit. You have to have a rod that handles thirty pound braid and can cast a long way. Well, this rod has "air" guides that do not perform for me. They will not cast as far as conventional "k" guides. Plus, two rings fell out of the guides within 6 months. Kastking stopped making this rod but the service guy told me to pick a different rod and I could pay the shipping. We shall see how this works out...
