Is this rod really uk built ? sellers are in kendal i see . after a homegrown travel rod to replace my ugly stick travel which is pretty good btw .

Thanks for the message. The concept and design is from the UK, developed by myself, a very frustrated travel fisherman, who could never find the right sturdy product at the right price or a telescopic rod that never broke. The inspiration is from the 1960's US travel rods, combined with the ugly stick tip. We did look at making them in the UK, however they would retail for about 300 pounds. They are made for us in China, by a top quality manufacturer. Regarding price, we can only sell direct on market places like amazon, to avoid the massive wholesale margins. If you can wait 1 week the new rods and travel landing nets will be online. The new rod is a fly spin version of the World Traveller. Finally, yes, we are in Kendal, overlooking the salmon weir. Hi, what size reel would you recommend for spinning using this rod? a size 2500 or smaller?

Hi I can't remember the exact reel details , it was a present for a good friend , I included a small ryobi fixed spool with tensioner at the rear , he uses it on holiday and has caught with it , the rod is excellent quality best small travel rod we've seen. Reel cost about£12. Hope that's of use to you .

Is this rod ideal for lure fishing?

It is perfect for spinning using a fixed spook reel. If you are using a bait casting reel (multiplying reel) there will be better options for you.

Is this rod ok for coarse fishing with a fixed spool is the tip sensitive for this as it looks quit hard

Depends what coarse fishing you want to do. If you need an all-round travel rod that you can transport easily and use for ledger fishing, lure or float…. Yes, it will do the job just fine If you want a specialist coarse rod, then it best to look for the one you want… Carp, float, ledger, lure… they are all different and have different actions. WE do have the X5 rod with 3 different tips. So... If you want ravel rod…. Buy this…. If you need a specialist rod… it is not for you
