A hearth-baked oval shaped loaf that has been given an extra long fermentation to bring out the sour notes in the bread. The flavor profile of this bread is distinctly sour at the finish. The bottom of the loaf is dusted with semolina. The interior of the loaf is hearty and chewy and shows the random very open cell structure typical of well fermented bread doughs. The aroma of the bread is a combination of baked notes and sourdough. Bread is finished in on-site oven.

Okay people. This is amazing.
It's not you, it's just that you don't know how to make this good stuff.Get it out of your delivery from Amazon. If you're not eating it within a day, pop the loaf into a freezer ziploc. when you're ready to eat it, if it's frozen, put it into a preheated 375 oven for about 20 minutes. If room temp, 350 oven for 10 mins. PERFECTION.Warm it, toast it, and you'll love it. Don't do those things, and you're confused and sad.

eat it quickly
If you eat this all withing 36 hours it is a very good product. It is not as sour as I like (get Watsonville Sour Dough if you really like the sour flavor) but it crusty on the outside and soft/flavorful/aromatic on the inside. If you don't eat it within the first 36-48 hours it is better toasted or made into croutons. It is a small loaf so you should be able to finish it of with 2 people who like bread fairly easily.

Great items, great prices
I've purchased several of the La Brea Bakery items through Amazon Fresh and have yet to be disappointed! Their items are very reasonably priced and are delicious. I'm a happy camper and will continue to purchase their items when available through Amazon Fresh.

Crusty but Not Especially Sour
Not quite sour like the Aldi sliced sourdough bread that I've eaten before, but very light. If I could improve one thing, I wish this could come sliced, too.

Best Sourdough Bread on the East Coast
Living in Atlanta, I miss San Francisco's delicious sourdough bread. When any of my family or friends make the trip to the West Coast, I always ask them to bring home a loaf for me. I was so thrilled and surprised with my first Amazon Fresh order when I tasted this sourdough bread. I cannot say if it is better than San Fran's, but it is absolutely delicious. I order two loaves at a time all for myself just to be certain I will have enough for every breakfast between grocery deliveries. I just toast this on 6 and spread lots of real butter and Dickinson's apricot preserves over every crevice of this delicious bread. (Amazon Fresh does not carry Dickinson's apricot even though I have written them about this. They do carry Dickinson's black raspberry, which is delicious but is just not quite as good as the apricot.) If you have not tried La Brea Bakery products, just try your usual bread order but through them. I guarantee you will be surprised. This is the best bakery I have encountered since San Francisco's sourdough bakery.
