Excellent Design, Delivery, Sound - I am well satisfied
I was impressed from the get-go. The units came double-boxed by Amazon, and the carton itself was incredibly attractive; and unboxing was a pleasure in itself. Little things mean a lot and contributed to the experience. For example those clear plastic sticky discs used for sealing cartons.....the Ultimea had finger flaps on theirs which made opening the carton and the speakers' individual wrapping a confirmation of quality. As did the speaker cables - each with a velcro band to enable bundling when installing. The packing, similarly, exuded a quality far above the reasonable price. Installation was simple. I used the optical cable, switched on and was bathed in excellent surround sound. The algorithm was amazing. I know its not Dolby, but the soundscape was amazing. I tried the App and was less impressed by that, but the remote control is well designed and controls all the functions. I know it's early days, and I will keep you informed, but I am delighted with the D70. I got it for half the price of my old Sony system which only lasted a year. This was half the price - even with a 3 year warranty added on, and I got a pair of speaker stands - also great dessign and quality.

Probably the best sub soundbar in this price range.
This is the best soundbar and gives me around 70 percent of the performance of my Sonos which is around 8x more expensive. I would highly recommend this for home cinema or even computer gaming. What I like: You can adjust bass tremble and mid range and there is on screen display to confirm the settings. The remote is responsive and great quality. Subwoofer gives deep bass which is clear and distortion free. Soundbar is loud and the surround affects fill the room with cinematic sounds. This reminds me of the speakers of old , seems very high quality. It has digital in for modern devices but no aux port so if you want to use analogue devices you will need to purchase a audio to digital converter, most are sold here on Amazon for around 15 quid. The soundbar is heavy and well built , a sign of good quality drivers. This is probably the best speaker for mid level Audio and sounds are crisp and permeate all around. Excellent item, well worth it. For context I have had TCL soundbar and LG and hisense. This is by far better than all of those which cost more.

Great sound, good quality, easy to set up. Bad android app leaves a nasty taste.
The good: The important bits are really good. The packaging did its job, the unboxing experience pleasant, and nice to have leads for all combinations. I chose to set mine up vertically and the stands work well. I'm using it via SPDIF/Optical for my desktop PC, both for gaming and music whilst I work. Both sound good and there's a good number of presets to make it easy to set it to your taste. I paid £99 for this in Q2 2025. I consider that fair value, and the quality of the components and the sound is noticably better than the £50 unit it replaces. The bad: 1. The Android app requires you to register for an account with Ultimea before you can configure the soundbar to change any settings. This means giving them your email address and even your date of birth before it will work. Why does Ultimea need my birthday? It's not alcoholic, it's not a weapon - just greedy information gathering for their benefit I strongly resent this and despite the quality of the unit, detract a star. One registered and logged in, the app has good functionality and a good UI, and once it's set up you can uninstall it and use the remote for daily operation. 2. No AAA batteries supplied for the remote. Even the cheapest Chinese product comes with them, so why not this mid-range soundbar? 3. It's not clear which speaker is left or right when setting them up vertically - it's not printed on them anywhere. I needed to use the picture of it assembled as a horizontal bar to figure that out. 4. There was an extended warrantee card included, but you have to scan the QR code to use it, there's no way to register using a desktop PC.

EXCELLENT VALUE
The ULTIMEA 5.1 Surround Sound System offers a surprisingly full home-theater experience at a budget-friendly price. Its setup includes a compact main soundbar, a wireless subwoofer, and two rear satellite speakers — a true “5.1” configuration that aims to bring immersive surround sound to your living room without the complexity (or cost) of a high-end receiver system. Sound Quality Immersion & Surround: For its price point, the system does a solid job creating a sense of directionality. The rear speakers add real spatial effects in movies, especially during action scenes, making it feel more cinematic. Bass: The subwoofer is powerful and delivers decent low-end punch. Thanks to ULTIMEA’s “BassMAX” tech, the lows feel controlled and not overly boomy — great for explosions and deep rumble without dominating the rest of the mix. Clarity & Dialogue: Vocals and dialogue are generally clear, particularly in the dedicated “Dialogue” mode. The mid-range is decent, though some users note a bit of a tinny or thin quality when turned up very high. Atmos / Surround Processing: While marketed with “Atmos” processing on some versions, it’s important to be realistic: there are no up-firing speakers, so it doesn’t deliver true 3D height effects like a dedicated Dolby Atmos system. Some of the surround comes from ULTIMEA’s algorithm (e.g. “SurroundX”) which transforms stereo input to a 5.1 feel. Build & Design The soundbar and rear speakers have a no-frills, functional design. Nothing too flashy, but they’re compact enough to fit under or beside a TV without dominating the space. The subwoofers shape means it can be tucked beside a piece of furniture. Setup is straightforward. According to the manufacturer, it supports simple plug-and-play connections for HDMI ARC, optical, RCA. There is an app that gives you EQ controls and several preset sound matrices, making it flexible for different content. Connectivity HDMI eARC / ARC for high-quality audio and ease of use with modern TVs. Bluetooth (5.3) for wireless music streaming. Wired options: optical in, 3.5 mm, RCA — gives versatility depending on your gear. Power & wiring: The rear speakers connect via wired connection to the subwoofer. uk.whatgeek Pros Excellent value: For a full 5.1 system, this is much more affordable than many comparable surround setups. Real surround experience: Unlike many “soundbars + virtual surround,” this gives you discrete rear speakers. Flexible EQ and app control: Ability to tailor sound to your preferences. Good bass: Subwoofer delivers solid lows without being overbearing. Relatively easy setup: No need for a full AV receiver; simpler to get going. Given the price, quality control can vary — some users suggest checking early and keeping the return window open. Use Case & Suitability This system is best suited for: Budget-conscious home cinema users who want legitimate surround sound without spending on a full AV receiver setup. Living rooms or small-to-medium sized rooms (ULTIMEA recommends around 20–35 m² for their 5.1 systems). Ultimea Gaming setups: The 5.1 surround provides a good spatial audio experience for games. Movie watching: Especially effective for cinematic content that benefits from surround effects. Overall Verdict The ULTIMEA 5.1 Surround Sound/System (Poseidon D50) is a seriously good value proposition for anyone stepping up from TV speakers but not ready (or willing) to invest in a full AV setup. It doesn’t match high-end systems in terms of refinement or raw power, but its real surround speaker setup, decent subwoofer, and flexible EQ make it a very compelling option for budget home theater.

Exceeded expectations and then some.
After having moved house and sold our previous Majority 5.1 surround system as I’d built it into the media wall I felt we were in need of an upgrade from an old Bose solo 3 soundbar which has been faithful for 9 years. I’d looked at Bose and Sonos online, experienced the sound quality in shops and then Amazon brought up ULTIMEA. A firm I’d never heard of. Googling led to good reports, most of them focussed around 5.1 or 7.1 systems and not the 9.1 I fancied as a lover of films and clear dialogue and epic explosions etc. As it retailed for at least a third of the cost of what I thought I’d like if I had the money I took the plunge and I am in no way disappointed. The packaging and thought in the system is first rate, but that pales into insignificance when it’s actually used. Sound quality is amazing. Bass quality is amazing. Vocal clarity on top, well amazing doesn’t do that justice. The build quality and set up options are first rate with wireless connections to the sub and then wired rear surround speakers. In short it met, and then exceeded my expectations and I’d be pretty sure it would give a top tier manufacturers system a standard hard to beat it the vast majority of homes. Would I buy another … or an upgrade … without any shadow of doubt or hesitation. If you want a top notch, easy to set up, high performing home theatre set up and you don’t buy this in place of its competitors at many times the cost than I would suggest you’ve probably missed a real trick. Buy it. You won’t be disappointed.

A very impressive sound system!
First of all, it feels and looks discrete and very high quality. Here are the good points: It’s dead easy to connect, we have a Samsung smart telly, with an HDMI(ARC) socket, which connects with the HDMI lead they include. We could have used the optical lead, but then we would have had to use two remotes. This way, with ARC, the TV remote controls the sound bar system as well as the TV. The front speakers are on little tables a couple of feet either side of the telly, the rear subwoofer is behind the settee. The rear surround sound speakers plug into the sub woofer, which of course is wireless. This solved the problem of routing speaker wires from the telly round the room to behind the settee. The speaker wires they supply have phono connectors so it’s all very neat and simple, with no splicing needed. The sound is amazing. Our room is 15’ x 23’ and when we watch a film, the sound is all around, and above (somehow, and I don’t understand how), the bass is thunderous and shakes the room! The different options are excellent - with Bluetooth for streaming, and a comprehensive set of options on the remote control. Our previous system was a 100 watt Pioneer 5.1 and after eight years it gave up the ghost. This is better sounding and it certainly deals with those difficult-to-hear dialogues that sometimes plague us these days, when actors can’t be bothered to speak up clearly. The main bar, is so tidy and discrete it sits in front of the TV stand and really isn’t noticeable but, my goodness, the sound it puts out is brilliant! There are touch buttons discretely placed on top for volume up and down, on and off, and Bluetooth. There is a USB socket in the back and I’ve prepared some music selections on memory sticks which I put in to give us background music, or as a full performance, when it makes us feel as if we’re int he middle of the orchestra. The sound is clean and powerful. For ordinary TV, not films, we find the GAME setting best for us. Then there’s the iPhone app which allows us to customise and fine tune everything. We also have the main buttons on the app, replicating the ones on top of the bar. On this app, you can create and name customised settings that suit you, using the very comprehensive equaliser page, but they already include, Music, Game, Movies, Sport and Speech. On the remote control there is button not mentioned in the manual, and that synthesises surround sound for sources (like music on the USB stick) that don’t come with surround sound coding. This puts music all round you. There are no bad points. But there is one feature I would change: When it comes on and goes off, it plays a loudish ding dong sound, and I would like the option to silence it. Maybe an update will do that. This system is Chinese manufacturing excellence at it’s absolute best - it will never satisfy the ardent purists who want turntables and amplifiers with valves, but for the rest of us, it’s absolutely perfect.

Impressed.
Only installed it this morning, so these are my first impressions. Connected without a hitch through hdmi arc. The installation and Bluetooth connection took less than 10 mins. Unpacking the hardware and preparing took longer than the installation, ha,ha. All the parts were there and look well made. The sub woofer sounds moody and deep, quite impressed. The front and rear speakers 🔊 sound crisp and clear. I had a little time before I set off to work to try the movie, sport and music modes, all good and well pleased so far. A budget price for a near premium sound.

Great but buggy if you use optical/hdmi
Very good unless you want to take advantage of the Dolby Atmos features. The HDMI function is rather buggy and can drop or just not be detected at all. I've had two speaker setups from the same company with similar issues. The other issue also arises when using optical out. This will really bug audio files. Occasionally the speaker cuts out just for a second at high volumes in the same way that battery operated speakers cut out for a second when the batteries are running low. Just two or three times in a song but enough to be jarring to those who will find a jarring. Other than that it's a really great speaker setup. It's very small but well made and the little base pumps out a powerful sound. The high range and mid-range are very clear. I think there is a software bug within the speaker and it's devastating because it's got so much potential in such a tidy package.
