Excellent Quality Materials, Fabrication and Design Aesthetic
These four Steak Knives from Sunnecko are a matching set to one of their carving knives that I own, both in their attractive design esthetic and the materials used. These have a comfortable grip, are well balanced and have a nice weight in the hand. They’re a pleasure to hold and a pleasure to behold.According to Sunnecko, the blades of the serrated steak knives, same as their 12” carving knife, is forged from 1.4116 stainless steel; specifically, 1.4116 is a steel produced in Germany, although there are Chinese and Japanese variants with exactly the same properties. 1.4116 stainless steel is a high carbon martensitic (a specific type of steel structure formed through a rapid cooling process known as quenching) steel with excellent corrosion and wear resistance properties. It’s a relatively hard steel commonly used in the manufacture of knife blades. It has decent edge retention, overall toughness and is easy to sharpen. That said, the easier a blade is to sharpen, the more often it’ll need it, as edge retention is a function of a blades hardness as measured on the Rockwell HRC scale. 1.4116 steel has an HRC rating of 54 – 57 HRC, ranking it at the lower end of steel hardness. The handles of the steak knives are made from Pakkawood, an ultra-durable, man-made wood/resin composite that’s very dense and more water resistant than real wood. As such, it’s frequently used in the fabrication of knife handles due to its resiliency during the course of daily wear and tear; pakkawood is used for the handles of many high-end kitchen knives. It’s formed by impregnating a selection of hardwood veneers with phenolic thermoset resins, then subjecting them to extreme heat and pressure. With proper care, it can last decades.Sunnecko doesn’t note whether the wavy pattern on the blade is formed by Damascus forging, or is laser etched, although on the carving knife they did state that the pattern is etched, not forged. In any case, the patterns can be subtle or more pronounced, depending on the relation of the blade to the direction of light illuminating it. Sometimes they appear highly visible, while at other times they’ll practically disappear. Like the carving knife, they provide a visually appealing highlight to the blades. The blades of the Sunnecko carving knives are indeed very sharp on delivery, allowing them to practically glide through the various foodstuffs found on a meal’s plate; the knives are especially effective at cutting thin, even slices through both meat and vegetables.Given the knives highly sharpened state it would be advisable to remain focused while using them; if these can easily go through meat, they can easily go through you. Suunecko provides a small booklet with the knives that include superficial care instructions, but no mention of how best to sharpen them. Although serrated knives typically stay sharp longer than straight edge knives, they will eventually need to be sharpened. There are many techniques for sharpening a serrated knife, including electric sharpeners, however, in general, the most common technique is to sharpen each serration individually with a honing rod. According to the KnifeBasics website, 1.4116 blades are readily sharpened to a razor-sharp edge with simple sharpening tools and basic sharpening skills.By all accounts, including my personal experience, Sunnecko’s Serrated Steak Knives are manufactured using high-quality materials; they also look great on the table. Moreover, they should prove durable even with daily use, while incorporating an attractive marriage of form and function. Given their price point, along with the quality of materials used, they seem competitively priced.

A Knife Set That Finally Does the Job
My wife has been saying for a while that we needed a decent set of steak knives. Our old ones were just tearing the meat instead of cutting it. She found this Sunnecko set online, and I have to say, she made a good choice. I'm giving these a full five stars because they earned it.The first time I used one on a ribeye, it was a night-and-day difference. These knives are incredibly sharp. They slice right through the steak without any effort, just a clean, smooth cut. They also have a nice weight to them—they feel substantial and balanced in your hand, not flimsy like some others I've used. The Pakkawood handles look great and feel comfortable to hold. For what they cost, they seem like a very good value; they perform like a much more expensive set.The only thing that could be considered a dislike is that they need to be hand-washed. My wife is particular about it, saying it will keep the wood handles and the blades in good shape for longer. It’s a little extra work, especially when I have to remind my two daughters not to just toss them in the sink, but for a knife that performs this well, it's a small chore I can live with. They come in a nice box for storage and just feel like a quality product all around. It's satisfying to finally have a set of knives that can handle a good piece of meat properly.

Great knives
These are really nice steak knives. They are very sharp and have no trouble cutting through a rib-eye or new york strip. The serrated blade makes it a challenge to re-sharpen, but so far I haven't noticed them getting dull so hopefully that won't be an issue. They appear to be stainless and haven't noticed any rusting or changing of color. The specs say they are dishwasher safe, but I never put knives in the dishwasher anyway. At a 4.5 inch blade these feel good in the hand and work well. For the quality at the current price with coupon I would say these are a bargain. Would make a nice housewarming gift as well in their nice display box they come in.

Great Steak Knives
I've always been accustomed to the steak knives provided at the steak house or the ones that were included as part of our knife set. These were almost revelatory as to how well they cut a steak.Razor sharp indeed! They sliced through the pictured filet mignon like the proverbial butter.Even on a tender cut like this our other steak knives kind of drug a bit while cutting. Not these. Sliced though like a whisper. Paper thin cuts are effortless. They are also very nice looking knives with a laser etched damascus steel pattern. These are now the Go To knives for steak, chicken, or anything else that needs a fine carving edge.Highly recommended.

Perfect knives for steak night
I gotta say, these steak knives are a game-changer for our family dinners. They're not just good-lookin' with those wooden handles, they really do the job right. We had a barbecue last weekend, and everyone was raving about how easy it was to slice through the steaks. The serrated edge is sharp as a tack, and it didn't tear up the meat, kept all those tasty juices right where they belong. I love that they come in a nice gift box too, makes me feel like I'm treating myself every time I open it. The handles feel sturdy and comfortable, no slipping or sliding around, even when my hands were a bit greasy. If you're looking to add some class and practicality to your kitchen, these would be the way to go. Got a feeling they'll last us a long time, and I can't wait to use 'em again.
