This heater is AWESOME. We were looking for a heater for the outdoor cat house we have, especially as temperatures dropped into single digits. After browsing many options, we felt safest with a heater designed for animals, with the safety features in mind. We installed it in the cat house, and were shocked to see that on the low setting, it has no problem maintaining a steady 65 degrees inside! Temps outside were hitting dangerous levels, but our kitties are very cozy. (Well, they still prefer the little catio they have for hours every night, but at least we know they *can* warm up when they want to!) Great for their water bowl, too--we haven't had any problems with freezing, and we definitely would have otherwise. The heater was easy to install and easy to monitor over time. We bought a bluetooth thermometer to alert us if it gets above 70 degrees, and so far, we haven't had any issues! If you're looking for a safe, cozy space for your outdoor pets, this is the purchase for you! I've attached our thermostat readings! We turn it off during the day, which is when the temperature drops, and back on when it gets dark. For reference, after reading one review here, we did also detatch the metal rod that checks temperature and secure it to another area of the cat house to keep it from getting too hot. Now we think we have the opposite problem; any fluctuations are probably a result of it being by a shuttered window that lets cold air in. We'll likely be moving that temperature rod to another location to see if it fixes that issue.

Works great! You can adjust the setting you want it to kick on, and when it does it is not loud. It does make a small hum, but my dogs got used to it. It's an aluminum casing so they cant chew it up. And I love having the camera on it. I have had absolutely zero problems with it, and my dogs are warm!

I paid a little more for the Bluetooth version of this heater, and it was a disappointment from the very beginning. I ordered two, installed them in my catio, and then do they quick search in the App Store using the company name - no results. Then I did an internet search using the company name - still no app. So I went to the company website to see if I could download the app directly from there, or at least get instructions on how to find the app - once again, nothing. Seriously?!? So I went back to the App Store and added "Hound" and I found it. I installed it and try to connect to my two heaters - no heaters found. I tried this multiple times and gave up. I decided I was going to do it the next day when I had more patience. I was excited to get these heaters up and running so my cats could be warm in their catio, but the Bluetooth version doesn't even have manual knobs to operate the heaters. So later that night I decided to try again. This time I went into my basement and stood next to the tunnel leading out to my catio. This time the app connected with ONE of my heaters. So I decided to walk outside and stand right next to the cage. This time the app connected to both of them. Unfortunately if you walk any further than 6 ft away from the heaters the app loses connection. That's absolutely worthless since most dog houses, catios, chicken coops, or whatever else people want to heat for their pets aren't going to be located in the living room. There's no way I'm going to walk outside to make sure my heaters are working or to adjust them. I decided to return these heaters and I found a more powerful pet safe heater that operates off wi-fi. Hopefully they work better than these do.

EDIT: I am now into the second winter with this product. It continues to perform as advertised. I have it connected to a smart switch. I am able to tell my Echo device to turn the heater off and on. I also have a timer set so I don't leave it on overnight. One of my dogs just LOVES to be out in the yard. With this heater in his dog house I know be has a warm dry place to crash and I feel good about letting him be outside in the winter if he wants. Purchased this heater to install in our Dog Palace Dog house. The dog house is plastic and insulated. Install was as easy as marking out and drilling four holes. If you use a plastic dog house, do not over tighten nuts. Install took 15 minutes. I plugged it into a Waterproof outdoor smart plug. Allows me to turn on/off on a schedule so I don't forget. It is also tapped into my smart home so I can turn in/off by voice or app. A couple of days after the install, temperature dropped to single digits in New England. With the thermostat set half way, the Hound Heater kept the interior at a steady 50 degrees. And that is with only 1/2 the dog house door mounted (for training). It is possible to set the temperature quite a bit higher if desired. Before purchase, I had several questions related to mounting the unit in a plastic dog house. I emailed the company and the owner responded very quickly. And it was after business hours. We emailed back and forth several times. Company was responsive and helpful. I almost did not purchase because of some negative reviews. But my unit works perfectly. There is a warranty for those who describe having problems. And the parts are replaceable and inexpensive if out of warranty. One person complained that their dog chewed through the cord. Dogs do chew things. So I ran my cord through PVC to be safe. Really can't blame company because dog chewed it up. Bottom line is it keeps my dogs comfortable. And I don't have to worry if they are out in the cold. My only complaint is the smell of the heater when I first started using it. It took 3 days of continuous use to burn off the smell. But now no more smell. Definitely recommend,

I spent a lot of time looking for a safe way to heat my dog house. The reviews on this product seemed promising. I live in the Canadian prairies. We adopted a puppy into our family in august and I have been super stressed about how he will be taken care of when winter hit. His dog house is 4x4, well built and insulated. When the cold came I put a thick layer of straw down and folded a piece of carpet in half so it was soft on both sides to hang in his large opening doorway. He is a bigger breed (lab/shepherd mix) so as a full adult this probably would be enough but he’s still so young and his coat is still coming in. I just worried a lot. It can get pretty nasty in the winter here. I found this heater affordable when factoring the ease of installation and how well the reviews said it worked. I am a female and installed it myself with no problem. Very straight forward. Drilled a hole for the cord and 4 screws to mount inside. I left it set on low. I came back a few hours later to check on it and when I opened the carpet door it was seriously so hot inside 😂 I did not realize the heater has an auto shut off when it reaches temperature (not sure what the temperature is set at for low/med/high). But that’s great. Because I think if it ran continuously then it would be way too hot in his house. I’ve been using it now for three weeks and I consistently check on my puppy’s house everyday. I’ve actually never even noticed it running since the initial installation, so it’s obviously not running 24/7, which is great. The coldest it’s been here this season so far I’ve noticed is -18C and my dog always comes out of his house dry and warm. I’d like to get a thermometer for the inside of his house to actually see how warm it is but just feeling with a bare hand/arm, it’s plenty warm. My dogs coat is black and his adult coat is coming in enough that even on a -5 day with sunshine he is finding places to lay in the shade. So I also have to worry about him running too hot (I’ll have this problem come summer next year lol). But he LOVES his dog house so it must not be too hot in there for him. I highly recommend this product. It’s given me so much peace of mind. Works great. Was easy to install. Product shipped fast and came well packaged. The covering does not get hot at all so no chance of burning my dog. The fan runs very quietly. There is nothing my dog can chew on or wreck or get in trouble with. The temperature dial is covered so he cannot accidentally bump or break it. I have a cat house that I will be purchasing another one of these heaters for. This is a great product!

No wiring needed, easy to install, easy to regulate temperature. Nice long cord to plug it in. Unit doesn’t heat itself up too hot. A larger unit so would make sure your house is big enough. The filter isn’t very well secured - as it just fits between the wall and the unit. My cats pulled it out and tore it up shortly after it was installed. (Would be better if it was secured via some kind of cage or something.)

This heater is exactly what we needed for our dog house. I was a bit apprehensive about a heating pad, heating lamps, or infrared heaters due to the concern of burns. This is perfect. Tucks away in the top corner and only runs when needed.

This is rhe second heater i have bought, i thought the first heater wore out but it was just to cold with the wind chill -35. Once it got back to a normal temp, It started to work again. The dog house is about 40 cubic ft. And the heater keeps it about 10 degrees c. Great product, so now i have a spare

I have only had this heater for two weeks but the weather here in Calgary has been -28 with a wind chill of -34 and both my dogs have the heater in their insulated dog houses and have been toasty warm. I check to see if the heater is working every time I go to their kennels and no issues yet. Curious to see how much the electric bill will go up. lol
