If you think running is just about pounding pavement and counting miles, Born to Run will make you rethink everything you know about the sport. Christopher McDougall’s bestselling adventure is more than a book about running-it's a thrilling journey into the heart of human endurance, tribal secrets, and the wildest race you’ve never heard of. McDougall’s quest begins with a simple question: Why do so many runners get injured, while the mysterious Tarahumara tribe of Mexico can run hundreds of miles-often in sandals-without a single complaint? His search for answers takes readers deep into Mexico’s Copper Canyons, where he meets unforgettable characters like the enigmatic Caballo Blanco, legendary ultrarunners, and the Tarahumara themselves, who redefine what it means to be human. The book is packed with gripping race scenes, fascinating science about why humans are literally born to run, and a cast of quirky, inspiring athletes who will make you want to lace up your shoes and hit the road-even if you’ve never run a mile in your life. McDougall’s storytelling is energetic, witty, and sometimes laugh-out-loud funny, making even the science behind running shoes and evolutionary biology feel like part of an epic adventure. Born to Run is a celebration of the joy of running and the resilience of the human spirit. Whether you’re a seasoned marathoner or just looking for a story that will inspire you to move, this book is a must-read. After finishing it, don’t be surprised if you find yourself googling the Tarahumara, signing up for a race, or simply heading out the door for a run with a smile on your face. Review: A good read - A good enthralling read. The only downside is that there are too many characters to keep track of and follow.

interesting read for sports enthusiasts
The book touches many points on ultramarathon trail running intertwining the tales of many successful ultra runners and the main plot around which it revolves is the native Mexican tribe who without any fancy training or gears are better than the most of the world at this endurance sports

Must read book
It's such an amazing book that it just not only engages you throughout the story but also inspires you to take out those running shoes and head off to wilderness. Author takes you from the Harvard lab to the far off Leadville race to copper canyons in Mexico, its an exceptional narrative with details from evolution to running techniques and a good sneak peak at these new shoe models launched every year in the name of safe running! I would recommend this book to anyone who has even slight interest in running, you will definitely enjoy it and will learn some new things about our body and how we are all born to run!

Inspiring story, but contains little learning for aspiring barefoot runners
A highly inspiring book that got me started with barefoot running...I'm loving it :-) The book does feel like a mix of research, history, autobiography & sometimes even a movie script. Therefore, at times, I did marginally lose interest but as you continue it pulls you back in quite quickly. My disappointment with the book is this - I was looking for a lot of learning about barefoot running considering how popular this book is. But sadly, the it only touts barefoot running & isn't a coaching manual or playbook for anyone looking to get started. For that you'll have to look elsewhere on the Internet, I suppose. Overall, a very good read about why running is such a great sport which we humans were born to do.

Awesome book that is so revealing of running
It is a good book and reads more like fiction. But that’s not the best part. Many books do this. What I enjoyed most was knowing so much about running, of human physiology that confirms we were actually born to run, and not just walk. Something I never knew. Fantastic! Lot if research has gone into this book making by the author.
