Pentair 520906 MobileTouch 3-3/4-Inch Monochrome Back Lit LCD Wireless Control Panel with Transceiver

I paid for my own shipping (FEDEX) in November so I would be able to use it during the holidays. It ha yet to sync with my pool. We have tried hours and hours to do this through IT via phone with Pentair and still no go. Expensive fail.

We did an enormous renovation to our back yard which included upgrading our entire pool system. We bought all Pentair products, including this wireless remote and intellitouch control panel. First off, you can't disable the freeze protection. I can assure you that where we live in CALIFORNIA, this "feature" should never come on, especially when it's 45 degrees out. It will kick off the spa (when we are in it, to run the freeze protection). The lights? Well, it's terrible. You can't program your own moods as it claims. You have several preset options that are terrible. You also can't split colors in the pool and spa, which I was told I can. Let's say you want one color in the spa and a different in the pool, that's not possible. So much for the "endless" programs they claim you can set for your personality. It's preset or nothing. Now the major problem. The thermostat does NOT work, it is not accurate and is off by about 10 degrees. Want to set the heater to 80? Well, you can, but it won't kick off at 80 (which will really be 90). It will keep running which has resulted in my heater running all day and turning my pool into an oversized bathtub. It defeats the purpose of even setting a temperature for the heater if it's not going to kick off once it reaches that temperature. They also need options for a true override when the pool is being serviced/cleaned. It's all VSP or nothing, much like everything else with this awful thing. The best part? I upgraded from a 15 year old system in order to have something energy efficient. My bills for gas and electricity doubled from what they were on the old equipment. I'd strongly suggest you look into a completely different brand. I've contacted Pentair several times and their warranty covers nothing, they seem to make it up as they go and say whatever your issue is, isn't covered. They have some of the worst CS I've ever encountered, actually. I tried to point out that their pitch for this product is bordering false advertisement (specifically the personalities and general functions, like the heater and thermostat). They dance around the subject in its entirety. It's a huge letdown to spend $7,000 on new pool equipment only to end up with something worse than our former system.
