9003 NightGuide Platinum Premium Upgrade Automotive Replacement Headlight Bulb, Fits Select High Beam, Low Beam, and Fog Positions (Pack of 2)

A night but tolerable upgrade to my OE bulbs. They put out a good amount of light, but not so much that they blind other drivers.

I installed these headlights in 2012 Honda CRV. [1] The replacement lights are noticeably brighter than the OEM headlights [2] This makes a difference at night. In part because the CRV's OEM lamps were rather dim. These lamps are equivalent to halogen lamps on up-market cars. [3] The focus is better too. (Though this might be subjective.) [4] Installation is straightforward. I practiced with the old bulb first so that I was confident in my approach so that I would not need to touch the bulb at all. (Remember to wear gloves so that if you do touch it at least you would not be applying fingerprints which can degrade the bulb due to its temperature as per the label warning.) [5] Really happy with this. Definitely worth the upgrade. [6] These bulbs technically run at a slightly higher wattage. No issues with the CR-V. I'm just pointing out where some of the extra light is coming from. [7] The packaging and instructions are clear.

I bought these to replace bulbs in my wife's vehicle in an attempt to improve nighttime visibility, which had diminished significantly over the last year or so. I suspected that the main problem was with the lenses, which I had already refurbished the surface of once, but the effects had worn off after about a year and a half, disappointingly. I used a different treatment on the lenses this time, with only minor improvement, so I had pretty-much decided to replace both headlamp assemblies. Figuring I'd need new bulbs, too, I decided to try these Philips NightGuide Platinum bulbs first, just to see if it would help. It did, so much so that I'm not going to replace the headlamp assemblies after all; we'll probably be getting a new vehicle in about a year, anyway, so this was a nice way to save the expense. I'm not sure if the previous bulbs (which were some kind of upgrade made by Sylvania) had dimmed over time, but I suspect that they may have. Regardless, for improved nighttime visibility - both clarity and distance, high and low beam - I would highly recommend these bulbs.

The light is much brighter than stock lamps (so 5 stars for this), but the low beam died at the 1 year mark (taking off a star). I still liked it enough that I ordered a replacement. Maybe it will last longer this time round.

These bulbs are very bright and have good build quality. Easy to install, and the packaging is easy to open without much risk of touching the bulb glass. Tip: you should always avoid touching the glass of the bulb, especially with bare skin. The oils from your skin can stick to the bulb causing chemical reactions when the bulb turns on that could change the temperature improperly on the glass, causing the glass to break explosively, destroying the bulb. Always wear clean gloves when installing head lamps.

Didn't even last 6 months. Ended up stopping at a local store to get new bulbs when one went out. End up getting Sylvania low grade bulbs they are way brighter and clearer than these were. Either the Phillips quality had really gone down or these bulbs were knockoffs.

Update: Changed from 5 stars to 3 (though I'd give them a 3.5). While the bulbs still had great output, I recently had a low beam burn out right before the 1 year mark of the being installed. I may order them again because the performance was great while they lasted, but only if I cannot find another suitable replacement. I used these to replace 12 year old factory bulbs in my Honda Fit and they work great! The output is a soft white. Much better than the old yellow bulbs I had previously. My only complaint is that the running light portion is a bit more yellow than I expected. I've had them installed for a few months now and haven't had any issues.
