Really good bag or mitt gloves
I work out with a boxing trainer and hit the heavy bag several times a week. I've been using some quality 14 oz sparring gloves and wanted some thicker knuckle padding. Even though these are approx 12 gloves, they have really thick padding over the knuckles - thicker than even my 16 oz sparring gloves. My only critical point is that I ordered large and the gloves are REALLY tight. I wish they offered an XL size. I have been trying to stretch out the gloves for a few days and am hopeful that, with use, they will break in and loosen up. The striking portion of the glove is leather and the palm is vinyl. I can't yet speak to the durability of the gloves, but at $47, it's a great deal.

So comfortable.
Super comfortable for punching heavy bag, not overly bulky. Your fingers and thumb are so well cushioned compared to my old gloves. On my old gloves, my fingers felt the impact and sometime my thumb felt jammed when I punched. I have smallish hands and Regular fits perfectly with a little room inside to wiggle around. The elastic wrist band is nice for really tightening around the wrist for great wrist support.UPDATE: Been using these regularly for the past 2.5 years about 2-3 times a week on the heavy bag. They are holding up well. Just the color is scuffed on a few places and the elastic is a little worn from the velcro accidentally getting attached to it, but it still works and still tightens just as before. The stitching is all still good. I haven't used higher end gloves to compare them to but I don't find anything to complain about these after all this time and regular use and feel they are really good if you are just getting into boxing. My knuckles and wrist and thumb feel like they are encased in rubber when I punch the bag and feel no pain at all. It makes me wonder what higher end gloves feel like but not sure if I will miss the protection that these have given me.

Excellent for bag work and overall training, just don't use them to spar or fight.
After three years of heavy bag work and hitting the pads, I can comfortably say these babies held up VERY well. And I'm honestly surprised how well they've stayed intact. Is there a little bit of fraying and material slowly coming apart at the seams? Sure. But again, after three years of some pretty good training, the damage is more-so cosmetic than anything that would hinder performance. Which is pretty darn good. Why 4 stars instead of 5? I guess it's just personal preference. The top-heavy design up at the knuckles and the tight/snug fit around my hands just doesn't make for what I'd call "ideal" comfort. I have some Cleto Reyes and Everlasts in my closet that feel much better to keep on for extended sessions. But for Ringside to fall short just by a hair in the comfort department is rather impressive. And they do feel fine, just not as good as some other gloves I have.I do recommend veering away from sparring with these gloves. They don't have sufficient padding for blocking or delivering punches. But I guess that's why they're called "bag gloves" in the description. And in that territory, they perform just fine. I would even say great.

Just What I Needed
The Bag Gloves are perfect. A nice woman I spoke to at Ringside recommended the gloves after I asked how I could soften my Ringside heavy bag. Before talking to her, I trained with the old-style bag gloves and the bag felt very hard. I did not want to go through the trouble of taping my hands and wrists before each heavy bag workout. The Ringside bag gloves are perfect. I can hit the heavy bag "full power" without hurting my hands. They are also designed in a way that forces you to hit the bag correctly and effectively. The bag gloves have also allowed me to properly "break-in" the heavy bag by punching it with my fists and gloves as opposed to a baseball bat or some other hard object that could damage the bag. I can feel the difference. Thank you Ringside! DDM

Review from a novice
Prior to using these gloves, I had been using padded training gloves that came with my bag set. Let's just say that I tore up my hands. With these, not only do I have full protection (with hand wraps on the inside of course), but they're very comfortable and vent quickly. I've been using them for about 2 months now a few times a week and haven't had any problems. As a side note, I would recommend to anyone setting up a punching bag in their basement (by attaching to rafters) to purchase a heavy bag spring. It minimizes the noise very well and has saved a lot of people headaches in my apartment.

Gloves ripped in three months.
These were the best gloves ever! Except both gloves ripped at the thumb at the same time. They were only 3 months old. That tells me either bad product or defective run. They'd get 5 stars but for the price I paid I expected a decent life. I'm waiting to see how Ringside decides to handle it. Honestly, if they can prove it's a bad batch, I'll change this to a 4 or a 5.Update: I called the vendor and they were happy to swap out with another set and they did it promptly. I've been using them for the past 30 days to check the leather. So far, So good. If they can make it past the 6 month mark, I'll up my rating to 5 stars. But for now, I'll keep it at three.Update #2: I officially revoke my 5 star rating. I got the replacement set on 10/1. It's just now 12/18 and the gloves are starting to rip again. I know my old Contenders were able to withstand my abuse, (sweat), and lasted a year and a half. So I'm pretty sure this is just sub-standard leather that doesn't react with sodium very well. FYI: the sodium makes the leather brittle. Thin brittle leather rips at the seams under pressure from punches. It's really a shame too, because these gloves were awesome bag gloves for hard hitters.

Not the best
These gloves run small and just not breaking in. Gloves are lacking in padding. They are flat across the knuckles despite all attempts to break in. Disappointing as I have had Ringside gloves before that were great.

Buen funcionamiento a excelente precio
Excelente producto. Con gel para evitar el impacto directo. Con otros guantes me habia lastimado los nudillos. Los de gel que me vendían en el gimnasio costaban el doble.

Excellent gloves but two potential deal breakers...
Just received the gloves today so this is just a preliminary review. I’ve only had a chance to try them on and warm up with them to break them in. My opinion may change in a week... I bought the LARGE gloves and a couple of observations:1) The gloves are stiff out of the package, they need breaking in.2) The gloves are listed as 12oz but they’re more like 14oz.3) The “large” gloves are pretty small; my hands are 9.5cm wide across the knuckles and 10cm long from knuckles to wrist bone. With wraps on, my hand is *very* snug inside the glove with just a tiny bit of space by the pinky finger. The thumb has a lot of space, though.4) Slamming the gloves into the heavy bag, the protection is very good. The padding is excellent, if stiff, the wrist protection is fairly decent.5) Besides the small size, the other big concern is the lining in the glove - it’s loose. A loose lining in a tight glove and You’re bound to have issues. If you wear handwraps (and you should), the glove lining will probably tear; if you don’t wear handwraps and the loose lining rubbing against skin will probably create blisters. So, the gloves offer excellent protection with a very light weight - but the glove is unusually small and the lining is a quality concern.

No me quedó bien
