Wonderfully concise and direct
Wonderfully concise and direct, with extensive Resources and References to both lend credibility and encourage further exploration into this fascinating discipline. (As the back of the book indicates, this guide is not for the more practiced observer so much as the aspirational beginner.) The conversational tone (and perhaps a grammatical error or two) may take devout literary scholars a few pages to adapt to, but Ms Blackwood knows what she is talking about and the approachability of the text only proves to be an asset when one attempts to put the techniques into practice. Overall I can easily recommend this volume to anyone interested in learning more about the world around them and desiring to experience it more fully.

Just what I was looking for
I've been studying this topic for the past few years now and I've written in way too many journals of all the information I've gathered and it seems you pulled all of the basics out into one well written and organized book. I couldn't have made it better if I tried. By the way, "What everybody is saying" is a fantastic book to read if you want to learn more about increasing your observational capabilities, which the author of this book suggests as well

Basic, overly-simple, but good
Three stars because the book is short and simple, the contents you could find online or off of a YouTube video. With that said, it's a well organized and more practical review on the deduction. Or induction, if you're picky.

Pocket Size Fun
Pretty good - nice size - easy to carry in pocket or purse! Most of the material has appeared in one form or another in other tomes, but the pocket size makes it fun to carry and read while waiting . . . .

Really good.
This is an excellent guide on how to read the world around. It's a quite small so it's easy to carry around in a small bag or a large pocket, in case you want to whip it out to aid you in your Holmesian deductions and quick-thinking about town. The book refers to Sherlock Holmes stories and is serious whilst still being engaging. I would recommend this book to anybody who wants a quick, witty and enjoyable read with a practical (by practical I mean it really helps you to show off) side. If you finish this book and want something more hardcore, I would recommend 'Mastermind' by Maria Konnikova.
