This does work
I've bought hundreds of things on amazon, this is my third review. I'm very picky.I was skeptical... $136 for what looks like a shallow crock pot. However, when I compared the price to other roasters, it was worth a shot. If it works, it's a good deal.I open the box, the instructions are in poor english and it's clearly not heavy duty. Still, I figured let's give it a try.I have to admit, despite my reservations, this thing roasts beans perfectly. I've done 3 batches now and it's consistent and easy. There is no timer so you have to watch it. It's also hard to hear the cracking stages... so watching it is a must for that too. All in all, it's excellent at what it's designed to do. How long it will last, I don't know. Right now, I'm extremely satisfied.

Does the job, can be messy.
Bought this one to replace the previous worn out roaster I had. It does a far better job than my previous one in giving an even roast. The controls are straight forward and all that is really required is to set a timer to key you to check for roast level. I turn the rheostat to 0 to allow the beans to cool down with the circulator still running. When It's cool, then I turn off the power and disconnect. Cooling down is far better than attempting to remove the hot beans. You don't want to inadvertently touch the hot plate. The single most annoying thing is the clean up and chaff on the beans. Since the beans are only stirred during roasting the chaff clings to them and, since I don't like that, I have to shake them in a colander to get some of the chaff off. Also, when you remove the top the chaff can spread a bit on your table. I roast my beans in a screened in sun room so to keep the chaff and the smoke out of the kitchen.

When it works it is great.
I had the machine for about a month when it started to malfunction. It is a circular machine with a nonstick surface, a hub with two curved wires sticking out from the hub to keep the beans turning and contacting the hot surface evenly. The machine is designed to rotate clockwise. When it does, the beans are turned nicely and they cook evenly. Very good. However, the electric motor that turns the hub started reversing and turning counterclockwise, causing the beans to not get even exposure to the hot surface of the base. As a result, i got some burned beans and the machine was rendered worthless. Fortunately, my Amazon rep treated me really well and I am going to look at options. He has sent me a refund and a UPS label. Great service by Amazon.

Great and Easy while it lasts.. But it doesn’t last long g
It does make nice, consistent coffee when it’s working. However, The heating elements stopped working after 6 months of use when using every week. I started to notice a subtle decline in heat before it just stopped heat. Not recommended for long term use.

Does not last
I purchased this unit after leaving my other one with a friend. This roaster only lasted 9 months, with making about 1-1.5 pounds a month of coffee roast. The stirring element stopped in a middle of a roast and will no longer work. Very disappointed for the price, the infrequent use and it only lasted 9 months. I had a cousin buy one of these as well and his stopped working in less than 6 months. As you can see by the reviews, this is not an uncommon experience.

So far, so good.
A fast and even roast. It is easy to operate and clean. If it is a durable product, it will have been worth every penny. That remains to be seen, but thus far I am very happy with the product.

Solid, Makes Great Coffee
There was a comment about adjusting the arms for small beans, but I didn't need to. The biggest issue was chaff; it has no chaff collector, but I found a really simple solution...air popcorn popper. After the beans are roasted and still warm (but cool enough to handled), I load a cup or so at a time into the popper, fire it up, give it a shake or two, and zero chaff. It takes 20-30 seconds per so plan on another 5 minutes or so after roasting.I generally do about 400 grams to a City/Light-Medium Roast at 180degC, and use this coffee:https://www.amazon.com/Single-Unroasted-Coffee-Specialty-Nicaraguan/dp/B014THN4OII use a medium grind (burr grinder) in a "4-cup" French Press (2+ cups), and it makes fruity, nutty, flavorful coffee. I go through about a pound a week. Seriously, you will hate the StarPlace, Pete's, and the rest after this...it is simple, inexpensive, and so worth it for the flavor.

Not at all a good purchase. Uneven roasting among other problems.
First off, it's a shallow crock pot with a metal arm that rotates. It should be $40.Second off, there is no chance on Earth you will roast good beans if you put 750G in there. It's absolutely ridiculous. Trying 400G, MAX.Third, Chaff is a big problem- use this outside!!Tips if you must use this:1. Watch the entire roasting process like a HAWK until you get the temp and timing figured out.2. In my experience you won't get a first crack under 200C - assuming it's really 200C. I3. Vent the hood/ tilt it- will help the chaff escape4. Clean the lid when you are done- the chaff will stick to it and eventually it will become completely opaque and a real pain to clean5. Pre warm it before putting the beans in- it is SLOW to change temps including to cool DOWN (say from 240 to 200C)- C, Celsius for those keeping track at home.If the stirrer randomly stops or goes haywire, welcome the world of electronics that weren't heat insulated properly. I've noticed sometimes you can nudge the stirrer to get started up again. Yeah, real junk. It's like Fonzi hitting a television to fix reception.Good luck.
